"I hate you, I love you, I hate that I love you..."
Shit, I mentally groan, really? Of course this song would come on right when Mystic Quincy shows up.
I sigh, leaning back into the grass, too lazy to skip Olivia O'Brian's melodic voice.
"Hey," I hear, "Can I sit?"
I don't bother opening my eyes, "I don't know, can you?"
A beat of silence. "...May I?"
I shrug, otherwise still, "I don't own it."
She sighs, and it occurs to me how often I've been hearing that lately.
Come to think of it, she's not been herself lately.
Very conscious of her sitting not five feet away, I struggle not to open my eyes, knowing that if I do, I'll be staring.
Her being so close reminds me of why I've been distancing myself from Remedy, Venus, and even her... a wave of betrayal hits me hard.
"So, do you want to tell me why you've been disappearing on us lately?"
I shrug, "Why do you care?"
"I've always cared!!"
I let that go, too preoccupied with why I'm avoiding them all. "I saw something I wasn't supposed to. I feel stupid for not seeing it before. Its fuzzy, I remember it and confronting her, but them she said something and everything was fine, like it didn't happen.... and I was okay with whatever she said!"
Mystic blurts out in a shocked voice, "You remembered... that?"
It doesn't surprise me she knows. I stay silent.
"What do you think she did?"
"...I'm not sure really, but I know it happened. Everything's been inconsistent lately. Especially you and them..."
She sighs, muttering to herself, "It's time then."
I sit up, finally looking at her, "For what?"
"Yes Mystic," Remedy says from somewhere behind us, "For what?"
We scramble up, coming face to face with them.
For a long moment, we all look between each other shiftily.
"It's time," Mystic starts her voice quiet.
"No," Remedy tries to shut her down immediately, "No way!"
They start glaring and yelling, but the sounds seems to be getting muted, and I can't take the pounding in my head that suddenly occurs.
The gun suddenly feels heavy in my hand and I lift it, wildly pointing it between the three of them randomly. I can't hold it on anyone of them for long, and I don't hear their arguing over the blood rushing though my ears. Finally, I hold the handgun to my own head, tears streaming down my face.
Mystic is crying as well. Venus and Remedy just freeze in shock.
"Tell me," I demand, "Tell me!"
Mystic addresses me with her hands up in front of her. "Kaitlyn, sweetie, where did you get the g-gun?"
I think about that. Where did I get it? When did I get it? I don't remember even owning a gun, or knowing anyone who owns one!
I shakily drop it, even more confused. Where did I get it?
Mystic rushes over and envelops me in her soft embrace. "We need to tell her," She tells them, holding me close.
"Mysti-"
"No," Mystic interrupts Remedy, in a dangerously low voice. "You said it over and over that this is crumbling. She deserves to know, to feel less like she's losing her mind!"
My sister gives her a cold look. "Are we even talking about her?"
Mystic growls, "Yes, obviously!"
Remy continues, "Are we? Or are we talking about you and your needs?"
Mystic looks dangerously close to snapping. "For EVERYONE'S sake, but her's mainly. Do you really think you can reverse it again? She remembered you kissing Venus!"
Remedy looks defeated. Finally, she sighs, "Kaitlyn, I..."
I patiently wait their explanation to what the heck is going on, and clutch Mystic closer, afraid of the answer.
Venus gives her a small smile, taking her hand. As much as I feel betrayed, I can't deny they look good together.
"Kaitlyn," Venus speaks for the first time since the yelling began, "You and I aren't together, we never were really-"
I interrupt her, "You think that's why I'm mad? Because you found happiness with my sister? The only thing I'm feeling betrayed about it that you didn't tell me! Neither of you!" I'm speaking to both of them now, "You were supposed to be my girlfriend, we had an understanding and I would have let you go happily! And you're my sister! I wouldn't have stayed between you guys' happiness! Not to mention whatever hypnosis shit you did on me!"
They both look guilty to different degrees. Remedy nods, "Alright, I guess it's time to tell you the truth. About everything."
Mystic tightens her hold, as if trying to become my body shield.
"Kaitlyn, we need to tell you something... it may not make too much sense, but it's real..."
"So, me and Mystic are together in this other reality? And you two? And I'm dead?"
"No, you're not dead! Well actually you were, and now we're not sure, it's really confusing, I don't think you even know..."
"Alright, so what are we going to do about it?" I ask, determined.
Still confused... about EVERYTHING, but determined.
(A/N: So sorry it's a few days' late guys, but I've had an interesting couple of weeks! First there was a screw up at my work and I had to help fix it, then there was a birth in the family, and finally, I got a girlfriend. "She's soooo adorable!"--- (very smart) ---- <beautiful inside and out> --- ~...Hot.~ She's all of the above. And I'm going on a trip, so either we'll have another update soon or another one a little late. Hopefully the former...)
