That night, Katniss stayed in the emergency room for the night. And mom said I could sleep in her bed if I want until she comes back.
It was the first time in a long time that I slept alone. It felt so long ago. At least Buttercup came in to join me. I didn't realize that I was so tired until I hit the pillow.
My dream was a peculiar one. I never have those. Just nightmares or good dreams.
When I opened my eyes, all I could see were trees. At first, I thought I was in the forest of District 12. I don't go in there often, but the few times I did, the memories were still fresh.
But instead of large trees, stumps, and animals, there was a large, what? Building? And around it were 24 pedestals.
Oh no, oh no. I've never been in the games, why would I be here?
I saw a large screen, where the numbers were counting down. 8, 7, 6, 5, 4...
I panicked, I had no experience! At least the Tributes got to do some kind of training before the games! This isn't fair at all!
I'll just run to the forest. I said to myself. So I can avoid the danger of being slaughtered.
When the gong rang, I began to turn back and run towards the forest, but instead, my legs carried a few feet off the pedestal and stopped so I had to watch the action.
Wait, no, no, no, no, no, no. This can't be.... Katniss's games? Can they?
The violence was too much, but I was like frozen on the spot. Some of the Tributes have already reached the large building and began getting supplies. Some are even fighting each other, and some lay on the ground. Dead.
Oh my god! I thought in horror, so this is what it's like to be in the Games!
My head turned and saw an orange pack. My legs seemed to have a mind of their own because I began to run towards it.
Another boy from another District was running for it too. And we both reached the pack first. We both fought for it. Surprisingly, Katniss was pretty strong. Just when I thought I could win, something sprayed onto my face.
Blood.
The boy choked and fell to the ground. I saw the knife buried in his back.
I wanted to cringe. But my (or I should say Katniss's) body had other ideas. I looked up and saw a girl with a knife in her hand. She threw it and braced myself to be brought down to the ground with the knife buried in me. L
But I held up the pack to shield myself, and the knife got caught in it. I then ran for my life.
******
I woke up in cold sweat. I heard someone breathing heavily and I looked around.
Then I realized, it was me. I was the one who was breathing heavily. I was the one who had the nightmare. And there was no-one to comfort me. Except for a cat.
Oh, no offense Buttercup. I still love you. I silently told Buttercup who looked at me with worried yellow eyes.
Then there was mom, but did she really understand to be in a situation like this? I wasn't sure, but she was still asleep. No point in waking her.
I stroked Buttercup while recovering. I was afraid to fall asleep again. I didn't want to re-watch the games, better yet experience it in cold flesh.
