How ironic it may sound the silence actually awoke me. The house had never been this quiet before and it actually bothered me. A lot! Either it was Luke or Michael yelling or the loud punk music blaring from downstairs with a bass that could cause an earthquake. But today, nothing.

I reached my arms out and stretched out across Luke's king sized bed while letting out a small moan.

Let me just say, if this had been me 2 months ago I would smile like an idiot and probably dance around, but now I was just concerned and couldn't wait to get out of bed.

And that I did.

I stood up from the bed and ran my hands down the shirt I was wearing, fixing the wrinkles my sleepy self had created. I must've fallen asleep after Ashton told me Luke and the guys had left and I assume that it was morning, but hey what do I know? Luke fucked up the window and it was pretty much no light left.

I wandered over to the door and grabbed he doorknob. To my surprise it actually opened.

"Ash..." I muttered and shook my head as I took a few steps out in to the hallway.

He must've forgotten to lock me inside or he had a kind heart like Calum, but that I already knew of course.

Even if Ashton kissed me he was still like my best friend in the house. I trusted him.

"Ash?" I yelled through the house and began to play with the hem of my soft shorts as I continued down the stairs to find an all dark hallway that always was light up, even during the night. Weird.

"In here." He answered and I turned my head around seeing some blue lights coming in from the living room. I turned my heel and walked towards him.

His back was turned towards me and the tv was showing some reality shit or something. Whatever it was, Ashton was like enchanted by it and hardly noticed me when I sat down on the couch next to him.

"Heard anything from the guys?" I asked and let out a sigh. Ashton's eyebrows raised at my words without even looking away from the tv. He let out a small sigh and ran his fingers through his hair. There we go again with the shyness.

"Nope."

He said and popped the 'P' which made me frown. He wasn't worried?

"Well, how long have they been gone?"

"For 14 hours."

"Isn't that long?" I asked and frowned while glaring at him. He didn't answer. Just continued to glare at the stupid show.

I let out a sigh and reached forward, grabbed the remote and pressed the red button which made the tv go pitch black.

"Em!"

"How can you be so nonchalant? Aren't you worried? Your brothers are out with my sister, threatening the man both you and I hate! They might get killed!"

Ashton rolls his eyes before glaring into my eyes. There was something different with him. His eyes didn't have the sparkle anymore and he wasn't warm. He was cold.

Something has changed within him.

"1. They aren't my biological brothers. 2. I don't give a crab about Jennifer. 3. I trust that what is being done is for the best."

He muttered, stood up...

.. And walked away.

"What?" I muttered mixed with a sigh and frowned. My eyes glanced at his back as he disappeared behind the corner. "He's fucked." I sighed and laid down on the couch with my left arm around my head as my wounded arm hung down over the edge.
