The Host

The Seeker (no idea when to be released)

The Soul (no idea when to be released)

SYNOPSIS: In the future, aliens called "Souls" have invaded the Earth in much the same way they have invaded many other planets. They cannot live in their own form so they need hosts to bind themselves to and then live (like the parasite-host relationship). So they go from planet to planet and peacefully take it over and insert themselves into the inhabitants. There's no screaming or pain or bloodshed. The Souls themselves are known for their kind and peaceful natures. On earth, when the invasion begins, some humans detect something wrong and go into hiding. Now, all the humans, except from these rebels have been taken over. When a Soul is inserted into one's body, their mind is completely taken over. Their memories and control over their body is gone and it's like they're dead and the Soul now commands their body. In The Host, Melanie Stryder, a rebel on the run with her little brother Jamie Sryder and boyfriend Jared Howe, has recently been caught and a Soul called Wanderer is inserted into her body. Wanderer has live many lifes, enough to make her a celebrity among her people, and was chosen specifically to insert into Melanie as rebels are known to have a very strong will and some do not easily fade away. But Wanderer is not ready for the flood of emotions that greets her when she takes over Melanie, as Melanie has not faded away. So it's two minds in one body now. A hatred for the Souls and love and longing for Jared and Jamie overwhelm Wanderer and she starts to sympathize with Melanie, which can be very dangerous indeed.

God, this novel is full of awesomeness. I'm pretty sure many people never bothered to read it because of Stephenie Meyer and their own hatred for Twilight, but let me assure you, even though I love Twilight, I can say that The Host is nothing like it. At all. It doesn't even have a love triangle! It's a love box *wink*! It's filled with tales of love, longing, sacrifice, hope and the search to fit in. The love between Wanda and Mel is commendable and Ian, oh my God, IAN!

*shakes head to clear it*

Anyway, you can read it if you're a sci-fi geek or not because it has elements of both. Many Twilight-haters all over the world claim to have loved it. I have a whole blog dedicated to it, if that's assurance enough.

I wonder when The Seeker is going to be released. Steph, please write it and hurry because I can't wait!

UPDATE: We most probably won't be getting the next books...you know, like, ever. Stephanie said she thought about the story too much and now she doesn't want to write it. :''''''((( Let's just hope she changes her mind someday.
But that shouldn't discourage anyone from reading The Host. Because it's a beautiful thing to behold in its own right. Heh. That was a book quote. ;)
