The Greek gods exist. And so, demigods exist along with all kinds of mythical creatures form Greek mythology like satyrs, nymphs, dryads and stuff. Percy Jackson is a not so ordinary kid. I mean, not most 12 year old kids get kicked out of schools every year, do they? Not most kids have ADHD and dyslexia. But when he's attacked by a monster and taken to a camp for "kids like him" everything makes sense. Percy is a demigod (also known as half-blood or hero), the son of Poseidon. And Camp Half-Blood is the only safe haven for demigods, as they attract all kinds of monsters in the mortal world. This series narrate the adventures of Percy Jackson with his friends Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood.

Although this series is aimed at 12-13 year olds, I still love it. Yeah, it is amazing for your little brothers and sisters because it's really interesting and gripping and may even spark an interest of reading in young people. But you can read it too.

It's funny. So funny. Even in the middle of a critical scene, Rick Riordan can make you laugh. And that's what keeps it interesting, along with the story, which is absolutely gripping. Greek mythology is actually very interesting.

Plus, the characters! Percy is the cutest, most adorable person ever! I literally feel like pinching his cheeks, at times (but alas, I cannot!). Annabeth is wise and intelligent and everything a mother wants her daughter to be. Grover is the funny, little satyr, funny, ambitious and all-time hungry for food.

The awesome thing it, the story does not only revolve around these three. It has various other characters that are well developed and interesting to read about. Like Clarisse the bully, Chiron the wise teacher,  Dionysus the care-free camp-director and Conner and Stoll Travis the thieving and pranking brothers.

The plot is wide and sprawling, easy to understand and devoid of any plot-holes. Although it's aimed at a younger audience, it has themes of redemption and forgiveness which makes it a good series for budding readers. It's not just kiddy action and fun; it's a lot deeper than that.

This series is excellent for you as well as your little siblings. Read it together!
