Okay, so I'm updating this after a very long time (almost a year). Let's get to it.

The Distance Between us is a contemporary romance featuring Caymen Meyers and Xander Spence. Caymen lives above (and helps run) her mother's doll store and she and her mother are poor. Xander is a rich (extremely rich) guy who just happens visit her store one day. Thus begins and epic journey full of laughs, suspense, butterflies and rainbows.

So, I started reading this book because I had just read Shadowhunter Academy and I was really depressed. I wanted to read something light and fluffy and my sister recommended this. And trust me, I was not disappointed.

First of all, The Distance Between Us is funny. And not the lame kind of funny. One of Caymen's traits is that she has a very dry sense of humor. She uses sarcasm all the time, and with such seriousness that it fools the people around her. That's one of the reasons she's such an interesting character. The whole book is really funny. I mean, it had me laughing in, like, the 5th paragraph. Laughing insanely. Like, I was at school when I started it and I was laughing so hard, the people around me were giving me weird looks.

Next, the characters. God, the characters are great. What makes Caymen so interesting is that she's very relate-able. At the start of the book, one of her hobbies is making fun of rich people. Sorry to say, but I agree with almost everything she said. She's also a girl who has no idea what to do with her life. Even though I don't feel that way, it's refreshing to see a character with such different and fresh feelings. She cares deeply about her mother and always puts her mother's needs before her own. She's kind, emphatic and a great character to spend time with.

Xander Spence. Aside from being totally hot, he's different than most male characters you come across. I mean, at the (very) start, he treats Caymen like he would treat any random poor person. But once he gets to know her, he's intrigued by her and keeps coming back. During the book, Caymen makes him realize that the way rich people treat the "commons" is wrong. He gets it and changes himself. Also, he's sweet (I guess) and complicated. He also has no idea what he's gonna do with his life. That's what makes him and Caymen bond so well. It's also a kind of rare thing to see in a rich guy.

The plot of this book is full of romance and drama (kinda?) and comedy and suspense. Yes, you read it right. Suspense. There's something fishy going on with some people and you just can't wait to find out what it is. And then the plot twist at the end. Whoa. Who knew, right?

Also, warning: major butterflies. I mean, there were times when I was reading this book that I just had to put it down, look up, rub my eyes, gain back my senses and then start again. It's really cute.
