I am so, so sorry for not updating! I can't believe it's been nearly two months. I've been writing another story with my best friend called Soul Spirit. It's a fantasy/romance novel, and I would really appreciate it if you would read it. As always, the blurb is at the end of this chapter and the picture on the side is the cover. Please check it out!

Cameron

When my embarrassing confession was finally over, we stood there in a few moments of awkward silence. Grace didn't know how to respond, and I didn't how I expected her to respond.

As soon as those words had left my mouth, I wanted to take them back. What did I think I would gain from making that comment. She probably thought I was a creep.

You poor, stupid, idiotic, love-struck fool. I pity you. my wolf mocked.

Technically, we are the same person. You're pitying yourself. I shot back.

He took on a tone of disapproval. You brainless boy. I'm not a person, remember?

I was interrupted before I could come up with a good enough comeback. Julie bounded up towards us, a bright smile lighting up her face. She looked flawless in her white lace dress which outlined her body, but wasn't too suggestive. She would no doubt capture the eyes of many admirers tonight.

"Hi, Cameron," she greeted nonchalantly, although I could sense her excitement at something. "Glad to see that you finally took up advice."

I tried unsuccessfully ignoring the stare that Grace gave me. Julie had suggested that I be the first one to make a move and display our not-yet-blossomed relationship out in public.

"Or else she'll just think you're embarrassed and too ashamed to be with her." she had explained. And whose opinion should I trust more than my mate's best friend?

The best friend turned to address Grace. "Can I talk to you for a sec? In private, of course," she added hastily.

"Sure, if that's okay with Cameron," she answered, nodding at me.

"It's fine by me." I replied, even though it wasn't. I didn't want her to leave my side even if it was for a second. But I couldn't object her meeting her closest confidant, who had more right to be with her than me. And besides, I owed her.

After a few minutes of standing alone uncomfortably, Grace rejoins me. Her crystal blue eyes sparkled with happiness and glee.

  "What happened?" I asked.

"Oh, Julie just met this guy who she really likes, but she doesn't know his name. That's great. She hasn't shown interest in a guy since forever," she seemed genuinely happy for her friend.

I frowned.  Zach had a crush on her since we were kids, only he was too afraid to say anything. My beta, the one that was going to be second-in-command of a pack one day, was afraid of being rejected. Well, it was too late. Now he would never get the chance.

I cast a glance at Grace. I couldn't believe that the beauty beside me was my intended mate. She was stunning in her dress that shimmered with every move. I hadn't been able to keep my eyes off her, and it seemed other males felt the same way. I felt a growl rumbling at the thought of the stares that she would receive from those hot-blooded assholes.

Speaking of the biggest asshole of all, Lucas appeared some distance away. Grace hadn't noticed him yet, something I was grateful for. His arms were folded and he glared murderously at me. I fought the urge to do the childish gesture of poking my tongue out at him. My wolf, on the other hand, was dancing in victory.
