I woke up to my mother pounding on my bedroom door. "Piper get up or you're gonna be late!" she shouted through the door.
I pried my tired eyes open and glanced at the my phone to see what time it was. Once the fuzzy image cleared up, I realized that I was indeed running late. Hurriedly, I threw the covers off my body and ran to my closet. I quickly picked out an outfit and some undergarments and rushed to my bathroom for a shower.
After my extremely quick shower, I threw on my clothes before quickly doing my hair and makeup. I grabbed my backpack and slipped on my shoes before heading downstairs.
"Morning kiddo," my dad greeted as he sipped his coffee.
I grabbed a poptart and stuffed it in my bag. I quickly kissed my dad on the cheek and gave my mom a hug before grabbing my keys off the hook and rushing out in hopes that I wouldn't be late.
I hurriedly walked down the driveway to my car. I unlocked my vehicle and tossed my bag on the passenger seat before climbing in and buckling up. I put the key in the ignition and started the car. Quickly but carefully, I backed out of the driveway before driving to school.
In about ten minutes, I had made it to school with a few minutes to spare. I pulled into my assigned parking spot and shut off the engine. I grabbed my bag and hopped out of the car. After locking my vehicle, I stashed my keys in my bag and made my way to the dreadful building.
The minute I stepped inside, my ears were filled with the buzz and chatter of prom. I wish prom would just hurry up and come so I wouldn't have to hear about it any longer. But sadly, prom was three torturous months away.
"Hey bud, how was Sadie yesterday?" a familiar voice asked behind me.
"Hey Bryce, she was good. She missed her Brycie though," I informed him. He let out a laugh at the nickname he had received from the small six year old girl.
"Aw, she is too precious for this world," he sighed placing his hand over his heart. I nodded in agreement.
"So how's the date search going?" I asked him.
"Eh, it's okay I guess. I haven't found anyone who's really my type."
"You'll find someone," I promised him.
"What about you, bud? Who are you gonna go with?"
"I don't know, Bryce," I sighed. "I'm not even sure if I'm gonna go."
"Ah come on, Pipe. You gotta go to prom. It's our last big hurrah of high school besides graduation. It'll be fun, I promise."
"You sound just like my mother," I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
Bryce raised a finger as he was just about to retaliate when the bell rang, cutting him off.
"See you after first block," I walked off to class.
I entered my history class and took a seat in the back of the room. I grabbed my binder and a pen and waited for the bell to ring so the teacher could begin the lesson for the day. About a minute before the bell usually rang, Beckett walked in the room with his two best friends, Gavin and Zachary. They took their seats in the front next to the most popular girls in school, Gabrielle and her two cronies, Hannah and Stephanie.
I rolled my eyes as Gabrielle giggled obnoxiously at something that Beckett said. I watched as she constantly batted her eyelashes, bit her lip, and flipped her hair over her shoulder. I honestly couldn't see why most of the guys in this school found it attractive when a girl acted like a total slutty bimbo.
Luckily enough for me, the bell rang and the teacher immediately began the lecture.
After an extremely boring lesson about the Cold War that seemed to go on forever, the bell finally rang and class was dismissed. I quickly packed up my belongings and rushed out of the classroom.
