Monday quickly approached and Bryce was practically dragging me behind him as he raced down the hall to the auditorium. He was anxious to see if I had gotten a role in the musical, and quite frankly I was too, I just wasn't as excited as him. I was more nervous than anything else.
"Come on Piper! Hurry up!" He rushed me as he weaved in and out of other students that roamed the halls.
"Why are you in such a rush? It's not like the cast list is gonna grow legs and walk away." I rolled my eyes at his hasty behavior.
We made it to the auditorium and there were a few people standing in front of the bulletin board. We waited until they left before going up to the board. I suddenly became more and more anxious as we neared the list.
"I can't look," I turned away. "Just tell me what I got, if anything."
"Actually, Piper, I think you should look at this for yourself." I looked at him as if he had three heads. He nodded his head toward the sheet.
Hesitantly, I took a deep breath and read the list. My jaw nearly hit the floor. There it was at the top of the list.
Ariel - Piper Jennings
There it was in black and white, posted for the entire school to see. I had gotten the lead in the school musical. Excitedly, I wrapped my arms around Bryce, a humongous grin stretching from ear to ear.
"I told you you could do it," he laughed, returning the hug. "I'm so proud of you."
"Congratulations," I heard a voice say behind me. I let go of Bryce and turned to see Garrett heading towards Bryce and I, his arms outstretched. I hugged and thanked him. He and Bryce stood and watched me as I fawned over a piece of paper stapled to a cork board.
I was so overwhelmed with joy over my part that I didn't even read the rest of the list. My eyes followed every name and letter as I scanned the paper, reading it in its entirety.
Ariel - Piper Jennings
Prince Eric - Beckett Murphy
King Triton - James Harwin
Sebastian - Franklin Harris
Flounder - Andrew Young

Attina - Mikayla Samson
Alana - Brianne Culpepper
Adella - Kaitlyn Meanor

Arista - Isabella Montoya
Andrina - Emily Boutaine
Ursula - Adrianna Dooley
Flotsam - Joseph Landy
Jetsam - Catherine Holtz
Grimsby - Caleb Morgan
Carlotta - Melissa Lloyd
Chef Louis - Bradley StephenUnderneath, was a list of about fifteen people who were in the ensemble. I recognized a few of the names listed in the below, including that of Gabrielle Jonesburg. I was shocked at the part she received. I figured she would've been one of Ariel's sisters but I was wrong. I was also ecstatic to see Beckett's name right under mine. I'm not surprised he got the male lead, he was the best guy who auditioned.
However, I was feeling a little unsure about us being co-stars. The Ariel and Eric love story could be slightly awkward for our new and blossoming friendship. It could possibly be a hindrance for me because I'm still unsure of my feelings for Beckett. I know for sure that I don't love him nor would I consider him a best friend yet. We've only hung out a few times and only one of those was Sadie-free.
The bell for first block pulled me out of my dazed state. I bid farewell to Garrett and Bryce and told them I would see them later before heading to class.
Over the past couple of weeks, Garrett and I have gotten a lot closer. We're pretty similar and we have a lot in common. We like majority of the same musicals with the exception of one or two and he loves Disney almost as much as I do.
