Hunters POV

We finally arrived to my house around dawn.I looked over at my sleeping mate. She slept the whole ride here. She looked so peaceful sleeping.

I picked her up and Isaac opened my house door. Then he left. I kicked it with my leg gently. Then I walked upstairs and I placed her in the guest bedroom across from mines. I grabbed a blanket off the chair and I put it over her.

I sat down beside her on the bed and she unconsciously moved closer. That made me smile. I moved the hair away from her eyes.

I sighed. She was going to be difficult. She was stubborn and her guards were up. She wasn't like every other girl. She didn't trust easily.

She seemed like she had a hard life. I could tell how she flinched by the smallest things. She was always scared.

I was surprised to see her dressed like that. I guess she liked being comfortable. I'll get her new clothes. I'll ask Mackenzie to come over to look after Tessa while i tended to a few things.

I went to my room and I grabbed some clothes. I took a quick shower. And I got dressed. I put on my shoes. I checked on Tessa one last time before I left.

I went downstairsand I made myself a cup of coffee. I was pretty exhausted but I couldn't sleep. I had been away too long from my pack.

I went to my office to do some paperwork. I couldn't focus though. My mind kept going back to my sleeping mate. She was so close yet so far.

I wanted answers to my questions. I wasn't the most patient person and she was testing my patience. My wolf was at bay with her. Which reminded me. I should probably ask him about Tessa.

"Can you sense if she has a wolf?" I ask him.

"No, she doesnt. I can sense there's more to her. But I can't tell." He says.

"How is any of this possible?" I ask.

"I don't know. We'll have to wait and see." He says.

I tried to get back to my work. Hours passed and I was on my third cup of coffee. I heard Tessa toss and turn a few times. But she was still sleeping. I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in." I say.

"Hey big brother." Mackenzie says and I smile at her. Her belly was getting bigger. She was due in at few weeks.

"How's my neice?" I ask her.

"Kicking like crazy." She says happily annoyed.

"That's the alpha blood in her." I say.

"Stop stalling. Where's my sister in law?" She says excitingly.

"Asleep." I say

"I can't wait to meet her. Well shop together. Hang out. Throw parties. This is going to be fun." She says squealing.

"Calm down. Don't get too excited. Tessa is a lot different." I say.

"What do you mean?" She says.

"Tessa is not a people's person. She's shy, she doesn't like being around too many people and she's stubborn." I say.

"I feel like there's more to this girl." She says.

"There is. I found her in a cell. Injured. I don't know why. She won't say anything. She wants to reject me." I say, feeling my anger rise again.
