Chapter Nine - part two

I stood up from the bed instantly moving behind a chair that I instantly grabbed onto for support. Being in a room alone with him right now was not a good thing. My wolf had too much control over me and I was worried about what she would do.

"What's your name?"

His question had caught me off guard. I had expected him to ask why I had been spying on him and that girl. Instead he'd asked for my name and now I must have resembled a fish as my mouth opened and closed.

"W-what?" I finally managed.

"Your name? It's been killing this past year that I never knew." He admitted rubbing the back of his neck.

"Oh uhh...." I searched the room looking everywhere but at him. "Alice." I finally admitted.

"Kristoff." He said walking closer and extending his hand towards me.

The way he walked towards me was cautious and I couldn't blame him considering out first confrontation. The close he got I could feel the power rolling off him in strong waves. Inside, my wolf was pleased with our mates strength.

"I know." I said deciding it'd be better not to shake his hand but instead. offering a small smile.

If he noticed, Kristoff didn't say anything instead backing away and motioning to the arm chairs in the room. Taking the hint I slowly walked over to the chair and took a seat. After a couple minutes of awkward silence while we seemed to stare at anything but each, he finally said something.

"How have you been?"

"Fine."

"I mean really." He insisted with a frown.

"What do you want me to say?" I growled frustrated. "That it hurt to be separated? That for months my friends had to stay silent as I cried myself to sleep? That I moved out of my home with my parents to avoid questions about my depression and sudden weight loss? Is that what you want to hear?!" Once I'd opened my mouth it was hard to keep the words from spilling.

My eyes had formed tears and I angrily brushed them away. My breathing had become quick, little huffs that I was quick to even out. Kristoff was stunned into silence at my sudden outburst.

"I didn't know.." He pleaded reaching out towards me.

"I don't care! This all happened because of you!" I accused, pushing his hand away and standing from my seat. "You chose this path for us when you rejected me that night."

"But I want you back now." He frowned standing up as well.

"It's too late for that. Once this is ball over I'll be leaving and I promise you that you'll never see me again."

A deep growl erupted from his chest as he grabbed my arms pulling me to his chest.

"Your mine!" He growled again crashing his lips into mine.
