Part 18: The Hike

Trinity's POV

Josh and I we're let of the hospital a couple of hours ago. We took a cab back to the hotel. Right now we are putting on some hiking gear. I have on high waisted jean shorts and a camo crop top. I put my hair into a high ponytail. That is my 'go to' when I have a bad hair day. I put on some mascara and Baby Lips. Keeping it simple because I'm gonna sweat. I laced up my pink nike running shoes. And put my phone in my back pocket.

"Ready to go babe?" I ask josh

"Yup" josh has on gray shorts and a white tanks top. I grab my Ray Bans and put them on my forhead. Josh also has his ray bans and hat. for papparazzi reasons. I take his hand and kiss his nose. Answer walk out the door.

It was a short drive to the Grand Canyon. Only 10 minutes. once josh parked the car I unbuckled

"Babe?" he asks

"What is it?"

"Let's go and celebrate later"

"Sounds good" I peck his lips and get out of the car. It's summer so it's super hot. The car thermometer said it was 97 degrees. Josh comes over to me and grabs my hand. We walk a little ways until we can see the canyon. It's huge. But it's so beautiful.

"This is beautiful" I say

"I thought you might like it"

We keep walking until we are at the edge. Of course there's a little fence but I could easily climb it. We look over and can see a small river and some people down at the bottom.

"Trin wanna take some pictures?" josh asks

"Yes" I grab my phone out and open the camera. We start by taking silly picture. then we asked some one to take a couple for us. One was me looking like I was falling over the edge and josh saving me. Another with me kissing his cheek. Then his lips and last a normal picture of the two of us. We say thank you to the man and walk down the path along the canyon. There are trees creating shade. Praise The Lord for creating trees.

We walk and walk and walk until we are the only ones on the path. Until we see this man. He looks about 20. But he has torn up clothes and needs a hair cut. he's on the other side of the gate

"Josh, look" I say

"He's gonna jump"

"We have to stop him"

"Ok"

We walk over to him.

"Beautiful day isnt it?" josh asks the man

"Yeah sure" he responds

"What's your name?" I ask him

"Nathan"

"Hi Nathan" I say extending my arm for a hand shake, he shakes my hand "I'm Trinity and this is josh"

"I know you're trying to stop me" Nathan says, "it's not gonna work"

"And why are you gonna jump?" Josh asks

"No dad and moms a pothead. I have no where to go. No one cares about me"

"That's not true. if we didn't care about you we wouldn't be talking to you" I say

"You don't count."

"Why is that?" i ask

"Look one more question and I'll jump"

"You wouldn't want to do that"

"Why not?"

"Cuz if you jump no one will know. You won't be remembered. And when you die you'll go somewhere Heaven or Hell. and if your path was Heaven you wouldn't jump" I say

"Your some stupid Bible freak?" he asks

"Yeah I'm a Bible freak but I'm not stupid"

"Yeah sure"

"Don't call her stupid!" Josh yells

"Alright" Nathan says

"Look is there anything we can do to not make you jump?" I ask

"Kiss me"

"Exuse me?"

"Kiss me and I won't jump"

"Trinity don't" josh says

"I have to josh. he's go to Hell. I can't let him"

"Ok babe"

"Alright I'll kiss you" I say

"Good"

"But you have to come on this side of the gate"

"Fine" he climbed back over and walked toward me. Was I really going to kiss a stranger just so he won't go to Hell? yup.

"Josh you know I love you" I say

Nathan cupped my face and said

"Your beautiful" I could hear josh grunt. I was scared. He kissed my lips. His lips were chapped. This is wrong. I want josh, I pushed on his chest.

"There. Satisfied?" I asked.

"Yes thank you"

I turned on my heels to look for josh but he was gone. He was walking away.

"Josh!" I shouted. I started running toward him "josh stop!" I finally got in front of him and he stopped

"What do you want?" he asked like I was some stranger. I was hurt by the way he said it. tears came to my eyes

"I want to know why you left me"

"You looked happy kissing him" the tears rolled down my cheek

"That was the worst kiss of my life josh" I say "why would you think that?"

"I.... I don't know...." he said realizing I'm hurt "babe I'm so sorry"

"It's ok. while I kissed him I just wanted your lips"

He cupped my face and kissed my lips the same way Nathan did but this time I got butterflies in my stomach. I smiled

"That was way better"i say

"Good"

We finished up our hole then went bac to the hotel and ate food then went to bed. I couldn't fall asleep so i turned on the tv. The news was on

"A man about the age of 20 commitwd suicide by jumping of the Grand Canyon today at about 3 pm." The news reporter said

"Josh!" I say nudging him "josh wake up"

"What babe?"

"Look" I say pointing to the tv.

"Nathan"
