*Its gonna get easier, easier somehow...* rang Sasha's phone to the tunes of Not Today, one of her favourite songs.
She looked at the clock in her room and saw it was 11:30pm and being a not so social person she was not used to people calling her this late and the number was unknown too.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hello New English Ma'am" said the very familiar voice, and yet she asked "Who is this?" to confirm.
Vivek thought of scaring her a bit and said, "Your boyfriend" in a firm tone. She felt something in her guts suddenly hearing the word 'boyfriend' almost after years but then brought her back in reality and she replied saying, "Vivek, I know its you."
"Haha okay. I knew that you knew that it was me."
"Then why did you say that?"
"Then why did you ask that?"
And just a sweet silence remained for a minute.
Sasha broke the silence asking, "By the way, how did you get my number?"
"Well, you better be aware that you are talking to a night magician."
Vivek could hear Sasha giggle on this.
"Well, I was not aware of that but I'm pretty aware that I'm talking to a night flirt." Said Sasha.
"Oooo, someone is being too friendly huh?" Joked Vivek.
She stopped for a moment and went into a flash back, this same line, almost this time years back, and she no more felt like talking. "Listen, I have to go okay bye." said Sasha and Vivek noticed the sudden change in her tone.
"Okay no no I'm sorry, I was just joking."
"No I'm not mad."
"But you are sad."
"This is not a time to rhyme Vivek!"
"Haha okay Sorryy! Come one, I know you don't want to go anywhere, you just didn't like what I said!"
"When you know that I didn't like what you said then why did you say that in the first place?"
"I said na sorry!"
"Fine."
"But, why do you get mad at things so fast?"
"Oh god. I just told you I am not mad." in a harsh tone.
"Yeah I realize that from your tone."
Vivek heard Sasha taking a deep breathe and she said, "Okay fine. I have reasons to react suddenly. I'm sorry and now I'm seriously not mad so chill."
"Yeah, that's what I'm asking! What are those reasons?"
"And why should I be telling you?"
"Because I'm your friend."
"And when did that happen?" joked Sasha.
And there was a pause again.
Sasha thought what she said might have hurted Vivek and she thought thats why he didn't say anything. For a moment she felt really guilty. And she said, "Hey, you there na? I was just kidding, yeah we are friends."
"Hahaha, I got you again!" said Vivek laughing.
"Not funny, Mr.Thakur."
"But I heard you laughing New English Ma'am." And both of them giggled.
"Okay now, I'm sleepy so really, finally, bye."
"Okay really, finally, goodnight."
"Goodnight." And they hung up smiling to some reason both of them didn't know.
It was years since she slept saying goodnight to someone else than her mother. And it was years since she fell asleep smiling.
