They were right, Caroline thought. She should have known they would never last.

Klaus and her got in a fight last night after he came home. He was drunk out of his mind, his breath smelling of liquor and blood which she could only assume was not from a blood bag.

"Where've you been?" She asked, immediately standing up. She knew he had to get out once in awhile, but he didn't text or call her all day and he knows she's one to worry.

"Busy." He ignores the girl, clearly in a mood as he brushed past her shoulder. Caroline scoffs, shaking her head.

"That's all you have to say? You haven't returned any of my calls-"

"I'm sorry I'm not acting like your little bitch for once Caroline." The girl takes a step back, surprised by his sudden outburst.

"Don't you dare talk to me like that Klaus Mikaelson! Get back here!" She grabs his arm, probably not hurting him in the slightest but enough to make him stop walking away from her. He looks down, his eyes full of anger and wrath. He can't help the slight softness creep in when he sees Caroline's worried state.

"What the hell is up with you?! You're acting like a complete asshole!"

"All I said was that I was busy-"

"And that you're my bitch?! Did you forget that part?" She pushes back the tears threatening to spill.

"Well that's mainly because the one time I don't text you you act like this. Why can't I go out for the day, get drunk without you acting like my mother?" His voice is annoyingly calm, raspy from the alcohol and a bit slurred. He can't mean this, can he?

"So what, you can constantly be overprotective of me and push me around but when I suddenly turn the tables I'm your mother? That's bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit Klaus." It was her turn to walk away from him, heading into their room. She didn't want to even look at him right now.

This was their first ever intense fight, and neither of them liked it one bit.

"No, I'm afraid it's not. I get mad when you act like a complete slut around guys, not when you decide to go out drinking for the day-" Caroline doesn't know what she's doing before her hand reaches his cheek, slapping him hard. They're both a bit taken aback from her actions, Caroline the first to recollect herself.

"We're over." The words spill from her mouth. She ignores the regret feeling that comes with it afterward, pushing past Klaus. She heads to the front door, not taking one last glance behind her. She didn't need to. She slammed the door, hard and loudly.

Klaus stayed there, stiff and shocked at what just happened as his mind tried to process it all. Caroline just broke up with him.

"Caroline!" His body quickly moved, guilt eating him up. He swung open the door, looking or for any sign of the blonde. Nothing.

Her car was gone, and so was she.

Klaus went back inside. It hadn't hit him yet as he fell to his knees, sighing. He laid on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. She was gone.

Caroline shook her head, suddenly coming out of her trance of the memories from last night.

"Hey, I made you some tea." Elena smiled sincerely. Caroline forced a small smile, thanking her best friend.

"Thanks again for letting me stay here." She hadn't explained what happened between her and her boyfri- ex- boyfriend. All she was able to say last night as she was a crying shaking mess was that her and Klaus had called things off. Elena was quick to let her best friend into her and Damon's shared home even though Damon had clearly not approved of it.
