Caroline and Klaus aren't together in this one! Sorry for any spelling errors, didn't have much time to edit and it was 10:00 when I finished this so I was a bit tired. :) (currently editing it)

"Another." The blonde ordered to the bartender who was currently giving her a suspicious eye.

"Look, I think you've had enough to drink. Let me call you a cab and you can go home-"

"How about you look; my mother just died. I want to fucking drink my brains out so I don't have to go and rip people's heads off to soothe my anger. So you're going to listen to me and get me another drink." Caroline grips onto his tie, yanking him forward before releasing him. He gulps, his hands shaking as he fumbles to pour her the alcohol.

"Desperate times I take it." She nearly drops her glass at the familiar voice, quickly turning around.

"I thought you were on a hunt for some witches. Or was that just some lie to get out of coming to my mom's funeral?" Her tone is emotionless and cold- nothing like the Caroline he knew. It makes him shiver just at the lifeless voice.

"I wasn't lying. Do you really think I would just skip something so serious as your mother's funeral to do something silly? This was important. Now I'm back... and honestly a bit surprised if I do say so myself. You look quite wasted, love." Her eyes narrow at his cheeky yet parenting tone. She didn't want to see him. Well that was a lie. She wanted to see him; she always wanted to see him... But not like this.

"Like you said, my mother's funeral was today; I have an excuse- so you and any of these glaring bitches in this bar can't judge me." Her voice raises as she eyes the couple of drunken girls who have been giving her dirty looks throughout the night.

"Right. I was sorry to hear-"

"Save me the pity talk, Klaus." He flinches ever so slightly. He's never seen Caroline this way- drunk for starters but just so casually talking about death- especially one as important as her own mothers. It worried him.

"As you wish. Although it wasn't a pity talk. I was sorry if you even care about that anymore."

"Nope." She says shortly, popping the "p". Klaus, with a sigh, nods. He gets that she doesn't want to talk about her mother because he knows if she does their is a high chance of her breaking down in front of him which she hates doing. Caroline always hated showing her feelings. She thought it meant she was weak which clearly Klaus did not agree with. Although he could relate to her.

"It's okay to be sad about it." He says after awhile. She doesn't answer, her hands gripping tightly onto her glass as a way to calm her emotions. After awhile Klaus decides he would need a drink as well, ordering one from the bartender. His lips meet the shot glass, swigging the liquid down which faintly burned his throat, although he was used to it.

"I remember when my mother died." He decides that's the best route to take.

"Maybe that's because you killed her." The blonde spat. Klaus only smirked.

"Yes well, that's the only part of the story you've heard. When I was young my mother was the only person I could come to talk to about my father's abuse. Although she couldn't do anything and I knew that because it would put her in the danger of the wrath that is my father as well, I felt as though she helped in some way. She would hold me close and whisper in my ear about how one day we would all be free. Free from him, free from the life we lived- free from everything. I don't think she meant that free would mean becoming vampires but that's what happened. When my siblings and I turned it was almost like something clicked in her. Suddenly she viewed us as monsters that had to be stopped- just like my father did. And so I killed her to protect my family but everyone seems to view me as the bad guy." There was a long moment of silence before Klaus feels a hand on his shoulder.

He looks up, surprised. For one thing, drunk Caroline was full of surprises.

"I'm sorry, Klaus." She looks him into his eyes, such an emotional raw look she carried whilst doing so. How could a baby vampire affect him so much in so many ways?

"Well I shared my story, it's your turn." She furrows her eyebrows, rolling her eyes as if she knew there was a catch. There was always a catch with Klaus. He does something nice, he expects something nice back.

"I didn't agree to this."

"Come on love. Let it out, tell me." With a sigh, she re-positions herself on the seat, eyeing the dimpled hybrid.

"I'm leaving now." Caroline stands up, grabbing her jacket. Klaus quickly follows her outside.

"Wait, Caroline-"

"Leave me alone, okay? I don't want to sit down and talk with you about my past like were best friends, because guess what Klaus?! We're not!" Klaus's heart hurts, but he pushes the feeling away. She's drunk and sad and he can't let her go home alone. He's let a girl go home angry one too many times, but this will be different. It's Caroline.

"Wait." He grabs her arm, not enough to hurt her but enough to make her stop.

"Don't... Just please let me go. It's been a hard day as it is. I just wanted to get drunk and go to bed, is that too much to ask?"

"Come stay with me. You don't need to return there, not today at least. Just until you're okay." She sighs, shaking her head.

"You won't let me go until I agree, will you?"

"No."

"Fine."

"Really?"

"Let's just go." Caroline was much too tired and wasted to argue with him.

The ride home was silent, Klaus trying his hardest to not look at the sleepy vampire in the passenger seat next to him. She looked so peaceful despite the situation she was in.

He pulls into his much too large house, looking over at Caroline finally. He moves a strand of hair from her angel-like face, quickly vamping over to her side of the door. He carefully cradles her in his arms taking nearly no effort whilst carrying her to the guest bedroom. He takes her shoes off after settling her on the king sized bed, watching her eyes flutter open.

"Sorry, did I fall asleep?" She rubs at her blue eyes.

"It's okay. I carried you in." For a second Caroline thinks about the small gesture Klaus wouldn't do for just anybody, her heart aching. She wanted her feelings to just fly away, but it's not that easy. Not when things like let her stay at his house in worry of her and go through the effort of carrying her inside just so she can sleep happen.

"Oh." He nods, about to leave the room before he hears a faint whisper.

"Don't leave." Klaus immediately stops, turning back around. He takes a seat on the bed much too big for the teenager.

"I'll never leave you." She looks him in the eyes, so confused. No one has ever truly told her that. And now Klaus, of all people, said it. Yet she didn't know how to feel.

"Lay down with me?"

"Of course." He pulled the girl into his arms, a very unlike Klaus move.

And that's how they stayed all night. They didn't need to speak their emotions because they knew how the other felt. Caroline was lonely and needed someone to be there for her. They knew each other better than anyone else. And Klaus never did leave Caroline, just as he promised.
