“You look like shit, Fany.”

Tiffany squinted her eyes upon hearing the insulting comment from her co-worker.

“Why, what a greeting, Wendy, what a greeting.” She rolled her eyes as she took a seat, placing her stuff on the work desk. The latter laughed at the sarcastic remark.

“I’m sorry, dear, but you don’t look as bright as usual. I suppose your cold was really really horrible, wasn’t it?” Wendy handed a cup of coffee, flashing a sympathetic smile as she did.

“Cold?” Tiffany accepted the coffee as she furrowed her eyebrows for a second, before retracing that she had excused herself from the office these two days by reasoning that she had caught a cold. She immediately faked a cough. “Ah, right, it was pretty severe.”

“Anyway, get well soon, friend! You’ve got to be strong and healthy since I have this strong feeling that we’re going to work on some big projects soon.”

“Thank you. Well, you know what? I don’t trust your feeling, Wendy,” Tiffany scoffed as she turned her Mac on.

Just then, Nichkhun walked to their desks, flashing a smile that was almost as bright as his tosca shirt. “Good morning, ladies.”

“Good morning, Khun,” Tiffany and Wendy greeted back politely.

“How’s your cold, Tiff?” Nichkhun turned to the standing dark-haired woman, beaming a concerned look. “You should’ve let me know if you’re not feeling well. I was really worried, you know.”

Tiffany found it seriously hard to surpress some sarcastic remarks from spitting out, but she held them in. She smiled back nonetheless. “I’m fine now. Thanks for your concern.”

“Fantastic. Let’s have a drink after work to celebrate your recovery—my treat. What do you say?” Nichkhun grinned widely as he placed a hand on Tiffany’s shoulder, making it crystal clear to Tiffany that he had ulterior motives.

Tiffany took a quick glance to Wendy, requesting for back-up, in panic and disgust. However Wendy just looked down while biting her lips, holding her laughter back.

Screw you, Wen.

Tiffany turned to Nichkhun and flashed her signature eyesmiles as she pried Nichkhun’s hand.”Oh, I’d love to, Khun, but I’m afraid I can’t.”

The brunette man’s face fell. “Eh? Why? Come on, it’ll be fun.”

Tiffany fidgeted her fingers as she realized that she hadn’t prepared any excuse. “Umm—it’s because..”

“It’s because she’s got a lot of work to do.”

The three multilingual speakers turned to the owner of the feminine yet stern voice; none other than their big boss, Kim Taeyeon. They immediately bowed—not without Tiffany breaking into a wide smile.

Taeyeon walked towards them and handed each a paper folder, keeping her face straight albeit she struggled not to wink at her lover or glare at Nichkhun—whom she had witnessed trying to flirt with her Tiffany.

“Please translate these documents to English and make sure there is no single error nor typo—you know I can’t really tolerate that. E-mail me when you’re done. Thank you,” Taeyeon instructed smilingly before heading back to the lift.

Once the lift went up, without prompting Nichkhun went back to his office—he got separated room since he was the head section—although he was flirtatious, at least he did his job responsibly and meticulously. Tiffany would’ve been interested in him if only she hadn’t met this irresistable charming girl named Kim Taeyeon at first.

“OH MY GOD!” Wendy squealed as she scanned through the documents.

“Quiet, Wen. I’m not going to hear you fangirl over our Director again,” Tiffany hissed as she, too, started reading the papers. But then she found herself gasping, “Oh my God!”

“Our company is going to collaborate with Fashion Designer Jung Jessica!” Wendy exclaimed in excitement. “This is so awesome!”

“Yeah, but is she really Jung Jessica, as in the CEO of Blanc-Eclare?” Tiffany’s eyes glistened with the equal amount of interest—who wouldn’t, when their company was to collaborate with one of the most fancy and famous fashion brand in Korea which had become every woman’s darling.

“Oh my God, it’s really her! We’re going to work with Blanc-Eclare,” Wendy confirmed as she flipped through some more pages.

“But why would a tech company like Kim Enterprises collaborate with a high-end fashion brand? That sounds.. odd.” Tiffany furrowed her eyebrows, tapping on the documents.

“Well, you know what, Fany? I don’t know if this has something to do with project, but..” Wendy narrowed her eyes, whispering as she tried to sound secretive.

“But what?”

“I heard that Jung Jessica is Director Kim’s ex.” Wendy whispered, her eyes wide. “Ex, as in ex-lover, not just another one night stand.”

Tiffany’s heart felt like refusing to work for a second before it started clenching hard. She gulped as the pang of jealousy hit her. Never had she heard that Taeyeon used to date a girl seriously.

“.. Really?”

“I heard so.” Wendy shrugged. “But I’m sure this has nothing to do with the project, right? I mean, just because the hot chick is your ex, you still can’t make a deal thoughtlessly. And I’m sure as hell that our Director is not the careless type like that—well, yes, she’s a  womanizer, but she’s a professional!”

Wendy was oblivious to the fact that her words had soothed and reassured Tiffany’s feelings. Tiffany smiled at her co-worker thankfully as she patted the latter’s shoulder. “You’re right this time, Wen.”

“Hey, I’m always right, girl! My feelings about getting a lotta work are proven right, aren’t they?” Wendy laughed as she started typing. “By the way, don’t you think lately Director Kim becomes more frequent to visit this section and give the orders by herself? Is she trying to hit on me?”

Tiffany once again rolled her eyes at her over-confident co-worker as she sighed and focused on her work.

“It’s a pleasure to work with you, Miss Jung.”

Taeyeon smiled contentedly as she shook the brunette woman’s hand after both signing a contract. The latter smiled back at her, rather calmly yet warmly. Both of the women were relieved that they eventually came to an agreement which would benefit both parties, after relentless hours of discussions and brainstorms.

“I honestly never thought we’d be working together again like this, Miss Kim.”

“Oh, let’s drop it already, Sica—it’s tickling my ears to hear you address me so formally!” Taeyeon chuckled as she took a sip of her coffee. ”Anyway, let’s work hard on your next fashion show. Now that you’re collaborating with our company, everything would be two times more amazing.” The young CEO smirked smugly.

“I do expect a lot from your company, Tae. The lightings, sound systems, screens, hollograms—I’ll leave it all to you.” Jessica smiled genuinely, the tip of her fingers tapping her lap.

“You know you can count on us, Sica,” Taeyeon said as she raised from the couch, buttoning her blazer up. “It’s late now, so I presume we’ll continue on discussing matters tomorrow? Would 9 AM be good for you?”

“Nine’s good.” Jessica nodded as she got to her feet as well, picking her purse up as she did. “Are you going home now?”

“Umm, probably?”

Jessica’s tone got higher—a hint of excitement and hope. “Are you free tonight?”

“I guess so.”

“Let’s get a drink, then. My treat.”
