“What did you just say?” Tiffany’s eyes grew wide as she stopped munching on the strawberry jam toast bread.
Taeyeon buttoned her white shirt, taking a glance over Tiffany, who was all ready with her formal working attire—which she apparently had left at Taeyeon’s house a few weeks ago, since she stayed over the night at Taeyeon’s place quite often.
“I said,” the blonde repeated as she ran her fingers on the drawer of her cupboard, choosing her tie of the day, “You’re not coming to work today, and I’m not going to go to Paris tomorrow.”
Tiffany frowned with displease. She knew from the stern tone, Taeyeon wasn’t asking for any objection nor opinion; she was dictating her, and Kim Taeyeon was always a firm one when it came to her thoughtful decisions.
“But why?” Tiffany swallowed the bread and stood, helping Taeyeon with her tie.
“Oh, Tiffany.” Taeyeon sighed as she let her girlfriend help her fixing the navy blue tie. She ran a hand along the latter’s silky dark hair lovingly. “Just take a rest for today, okay?”
“Why should I? Why shouldn’t you?”
The young CEO grimaced, as much as she tried to get used to the sarcastic tone Tiffany spoke whenever she was pissed, she still found it utterly annoying.
“I just need you to,” she eventually said.
“What if I don’t want to?”
“Please, baby.”
Tiffany rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms. She realized that Taeyeon was worrying her safety and probably traumatized, more than Tiffany was. After all, last night was the first time Tiffany saw the blonde went panic and afraid, since the latter was usually a composed and cold-headed figure—which Tiffany secretly adored the personality so much.
However, being an independent and strong-willed woman she was, she trusted that yesterday event was a poor accident that would never happen again if she acted more carefully.
“Oh, come on, Kim Taeyeon. I’ll be just fine! He’s arrested now, isn’t he?”
“Yeah and I’ve already got the replacement for his position but, hey.” Taeyeon tilted Tiffany’s chin up with her fingers, only to be welcomed by the latter’s rebelious eyes. “Please, just stay here today. I need to make sure of and settle some things down.”
Instead of complying, the younger girl shook her head stubbornly. “No, thank you. I can take care of myself, so stop being overly anxious and ridiculous, Taeyeon.”
“Overly anxious? Ridiculous? Me?” Taeyeon’s voice raised and Tiffany immediately regretted what she had just said. The blonde had her teeth gritted, and her eyebrows furrowed. “How can I not be, when my girlfriend was almost raped by my own employee? TELL ME, HOW CAN I NOT BE OVERLY ANXIOUS?!” she snapped angrily as she grabbed both of Tiffany’s shoulders tightly, which made the latter wince a bit.
“T-Taeyeon—“ Tiffany started feeling bad upon watching the same guilty, painful eyes Taeyeon had shown the night before.
“I’ve put you in danger, Tiffany. You almost got hurt, and that was because of me—no, don’t you deny it,” Taeyeon warned sternly as she held a finger up when Tiffany was about to argue. “If only I didn’t let you wander alone that night—or if only I had waited for you right outside the bar, if only I had done those ‘if only’; YOU WOULDN’T HAVE TO EXPERIENCE ANY OF THOSE HIDEOUS THINGS! The moment your voice disappeared from the other line and the call was cut so sudden, I got scared to death! I love you so much baby, can’t you understand how I feel? How worried I was? How I had sworn never to forgive myself if something bad happened to you?” she bursted out histerically, her voice was shaking along with tears oozing out of her eyes involuntarily.
