For Kim Taeyeon, Hwang Tiffany was like a Christmas carol on summer.

Her presence only was always more than sufficient to brighten even her most hectic day, not to mention her touch and kisses that had endlessly made the butterflies inside Taeyeon go crazy. With Tiffany, Taeyeon could always feel like a giddy teenager in love, for the latter made her fall harder every single day, in unimaginable ways.

Her eyes didn’t leave the sleeping girl beside her, even for a second. Enormously afraid that the latter might be gone again anytime and that she was actually just experiencing a lucid dream, she even tried her very best not to blink, and dared not to rub her heavy eyelids. Then played a bitter whisper in the back of her mind; a thought that if it were only a dream, then she’d rather not wake up forever.

Her puffy eyes started welling with tears again—not only because it felt burning due to her endeavour of not blinking, but also because she felt a huge wave of relief the moment the other girl’s eyes fluttered open as she beamed a lazy smile.

Just then she realized that it wasn’t a dream—it was a reality so much better than a dream—when the older girl extended her pale arm and touched Tiffany’s cheek softly, then warmth occupied not only the part where she was touched; but also all over her body.

“Ah, happy birthday, baby,” she uttered sleepily, a lazy smile tugged on her lips.

With no second thought, Tiffany launched herself forward and snuggled closer to her girlfriend, wrapping her arms around the petite woman tightly and inhaling the vanila scent deeply. All senses in her body confirmed that this woman was, indeed, her Taeyeon.

Taeyeon was there. Smiling at her. Embracing her.

Kim Taeyeon was really there.

Her tears of relief oozed like waterfall, immediately dampening the latter’s pyjamas.

“Taeyeoooooooon!” she cried hysterically as she buried her face on the latter’s crook of neck. Happy was an understatement for what she was feeling. “You’re here! You’re really here!“

“Sssh, calm down, baby.. Of course I’m here. I promised, didn’t I?” Taeyeon chuckled as she patted Tiffany’s bum several times.

The younger girl pulled away and looked up, sobbing. Her face was mixed between confusion and major relief.

“But I thought you were.. I thought—“

“Umm, to cut it short.. Let’s say it was a miracle,” Taeyeon said as she smiled gently.

“Miracle?” Tiffany knitted her eyebrows. “Like, you managed to escape the plane or something? You brought a parachute with you?”

“No, silly. I never got to that plane, actually. I called it a miracle because.. Well, you know how punctual I am, right?” Taeyeon asked, which earned a brief nod from the latter—now glancing at her with sparkling eyes. “Miraculously, I was late. The plane had taken off when I arrived at the airport. It was a close call, not to mention. I immediately dashed to the counter to order the earliest flight possible, and I kept cursing on my way as I thought I was so damn unlucky. But turned out.. Although I’m deeply sorry for that disastrous accident, I don’t know, but luck was on my side.”

Taeyeon frowned upon seeing Tiffany started crying again. She sat up and hovered over the other girl before wiping her tears with her pyjamas sleeve.

“What’s wrong?” she asked concernedly, brushing some strands of hair off Tiffany’s face.

“You could’ve given me a call or sent message, you know.”
