With the music blaring through the oversized speakers and multicolours lights flashing every now and then, it was still not deafening enough as people kept chattering with their friends, lovers, or maybe strangers; having rendezvous—some hollering, half-sober, whilst swaying their bodies, purposely grinding which they feigned as dancing, holding one or two bottles of liquor and following the beat that the DJ had dropped. It was, indeed, way too crowded.

Which was why the two ladies had decided to book a VIP room upstairs, where they could still get a sight of the heated dance floor through the wide window and heard muffled bass from the music—the night club atmosphere was still strong, yet they could chat without having to scream at the top of their lungs. And the best part of private room was that they wouldn’t have to decline offers from either men or women—they could get privacy there.

But what made the club—a nebulous, dusky, bizarre, loud place—strangely special for the both of them was; it was the place where they first encountered.

“It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?” Jessica asked as she poured soju to Taeyeon’s glass and hers. Taeyeon smiled softly, throwing her gaze around whilst reminiscing their past recollections.

Amongst the unpleasant memories of her old days, Jung Jessica was and had always been a pleasant part she’d cherish and be thankful of. During these hard days, Jessica had been there; she used to be like a candle amidst the suffocating darkness. Despite the initial cold attitude—which eventually got melted by Taeyeon’s relentless effort—Jessica had always been supportive towards Taeyeon, even when everyone else had turned their back on her. And for that, Taeyeon was endlessly grateful. Long story shorts, they finally got together.

Even after they’d broken up due to their busy schedules and different interests—which evoked countless arguments to the point they decided to go back being friends—they still kept in touch with each other and occasionally exchanged supports when one of them had a project or event.

“Don’t drink too much, Sica, you never handle the alcohol well. We’ve got work to do tomorrow.” Taeyeon chuckled as she lightly bumped her glass with the latter’s.

“Jeez, what are you, my mom?” Jessica hissed jokingly as she gulped the clear liquor in her glass down in one shot. “Long gone is the wild Taengoo.” Jessica poured another soju to her glass and to Taeyeon’s soon as the latter finished her in one gulp as well.

“Hey, call me Director Kim now.”

A shot.

“Then call me CEO Jung.”

Another shot.

“Fuck we’re rich kids now, eh?”

One more shot.

“Oh, look at how you’re in sumptuous suit and tie now; I still remember the day you sat down there, around the corner, with your white v-neck shirt and overly-worn ripped jeans, Tae.” Jessica giggled as she started pouring the second bottle.

“Hey don’t you dare to mock that precious jeans of mine.” Taeyeon knocked Jessica’s forehead lightly as she took another gulp. “Wasn’t my hair dyed blonde at the edge of my black hair back then?”

“Yeah it was. And I was fully blonde—a hot blonde.”

“Hell you were.” Taeyeon grinned, reminiscing how Jessica’s shiny hair quickly caught her attention among the cramped club.

“Hell I was.” Jessica grinned with the same playfulness before both breaking into another hearty laughter.

They talked and shared their delightful memories together, completely forgetting their hectic work for a while and ignoring how the night got late and the dawn came closer, with alcohol as their third company.
