Captain Boomerang is more than suspicious when he sees Harley Quinn on his apartment's front door step. He frowns with wariness as he looks at Harley closely for a moment to gauge her sincerity about her claim. He lets his head tilt to the side as he crosses his arms over his broad chest to show his open displeasure at the female harlequin's sudden presence. He uncrosses his arms long enough to motion for her to enter the apartment before he closes the door behind them.

He then turns to face her once again to let her speak to him in relative privacy. He had not truly realized that Kara's letter to him had been coerced into existence...otherwise, he would have pounded down the Joker's front fucking door to get to his wife. That is the whole point behind letting Harley into the apartment with him in the first place, after all. If she is serious in her claims of knowing where Kara is located, then he would let her speak on the matter at hand. If Harley helps him find Kara seriously, then he would have to find a way to properly thank her for her help.

But then the thought crosses his mind that she must have an ulterior motive for helping him in the first place. Isn't this some sort of trap since she is working for the Joker in the first place? This thought fills the super-villain with horror as he takes a stumbling step away from her to grab a boomerang from its place directly behind one of his hands. He keeps a tight grip on the weapon as he waits for Harley to attack him only to have her explain to him that she is not here to harm him.

Instead, she begins to explain that she is here to help him since she is no longer working for the Joker. She also explains that she likes the way Harkness treats Kara and was more than exhausted of the physical abuse that the Joker employs to keep Harley in line behind him. This revelation brings a look of shock to the villain as he begins to pity the harlequin's plight in life. He is also glad, however, to find that she is making a new life for herself. He is glad that she is ignoring the withdrawal symptoms he knows she will have once she leaves the harlequin crime royal of Gotham City.

Harkness knows that this must be Harley's way of returning the favor when it comes to the abuse she has suffered at Joker's hands. There is a grim but tight smile on Captain Boomerang's facial features as he motions for Harley to lead the way. He gives her the signature bat she is known for while grabbing several of his own boomerangs to take along with the two of them. He will not go unprepared at the end of the day since he knows that this is what the Joker is looking for in a possible new victim. He knows that the crime lord is looking for Captain Boomerang for some reason he is not aware of and this time he is willing to give the Joker what he is looking for...only to kill him for what he has done to Kara.

Weak as she was, Kara was still able to manage a swift kick to the Joker's shin before he was able to get her wriggly ankles tied up, which earned him a black eye, bloody nose and the loss of two gold teeth. He was not happy about that and smacked the side of her cheek, leaving a bruise.

"Don't make me kill you yet. I want your sweetheart to watch you die, princess."

His voice was sarcastic and cruel as he laughed once more. Kara was beginning to understand that the laugh was not a happy one by any means. It was one of frustration and anger. But then he did not seemed to be the happy type, though the grin seemed semi-permanent. Kara was above caring about such things in this moment because she was missing Boomer so damn much. She wasn't stupid and knew it was the Joker that set him up and put him in that jail cell and though she hated him for him for it, she knew that this was Boomer's fight. So she knew when Boomer got to him, he was done for. He would not let the kidnapping go. Boomer would be retaliating. She was sure of that.

"Screw you! Boomer can take you down easily. He won't let you get away with this. Hit me again and leave another bruise and he will make it even more painful. I would like to see you try."

Joker raised his hand as if he was going to hit her again and then he stopped, he heard footsteps outside the hideout. But then not thinking of it, he backhanded her across the other cheek. Kara could feel the blood trailing down her lip and she struggled to get free. But the bruises would heal just as soon as the kryptonite was removed. She dreaded what Boomer would do. She knew he was just as vicious as Harley and that he has no regrets so if The Joker forgot about the temperament that her husband had then he would sorely be surprised.

When he raised his hand to thump on her again, she realized what poor Harley must be going through at his hand. He seemed to have little or no respect for women and he was letting her know that in his own way. She had never been in the position where she had been in an abusive relationship. Boomer had treated her like a queen and Harley, well....was this what she had to look forward to if she had stayed with him? Kara glared at him, staring him down as he drew his hand back to give her another stinging punch. But before he could exact it on her, the door few open and Kara's eyes went to see who stood there.
