The snow fluttered down around Solas and Maeve as they walked hand in hand away from Skyhold. Their night had been nearly sleepless. They only found a few winks within the very early hours of the morning. They'd been incredibly restless in the night, only stopping their fruitful activities to take breath and allow their wants to fill them up again. He'd made her feel alive with the feverish caress of lips, made her shudder at his sensual touch, made her writhe in ecstasy with his every rocking motion, made her cry his name with every stroke of his hot breath and groan that came from his luxurious mouth. He'd been everywhere on her in the previous hours and when she woke, attempting to move from their bed, feeling stiff and raw and sore, she tumbled to the cold ground as he laughed. They both did, letting the low chuckle of irony fill them as he pulled her from the floor.
His hand was wrapped tightly around hers and she could feel the intense heat of his abilities tingling on her skin. They walked down the path, away from the compound, smiling wide at each other and the ground as they went. There was a beautifully pink blush on her cheeks as she recalled their night. He'd been rough and then soft and sweet and repeated several times, bring her more relish than she knew what to do with. After a time they just blacked out, falling asleep in each other's arms as tides of pleasure rolled over them. He eyed her with an admiring smile. Her face was all gorgeous, defined lines and contours of a contented facade. She looked absolutely stunning in the early morning light, the orange-ish pink bursts of sun cascading through her long wavy hair. She had it partially tied back, portions from the front and sides pulled into a thin braid while the rest hung free down her back. It left her neck exposed, showing the few dark marks he'd made on her during their fraternization.
She'd left her fair share of contusions on him as well. Though most of his were less visible, being in other places, he took in confidence the fact that she'd left one in plain sight just above his collar. The jaw bone necklace he'd set around her neck all those years ago still hung against her chest, swaying as she walked. He watched it, thinking back to those days, how different they were. "What are you thinking about?" She asked him with a largely curious smile. His grin widened and his cheeks pinked with blush. He looked down at the ground as the winter breeze blew around them, stirring her hair and whipping her coat around. "The Inquisition." He stated bashfully. This gave her pause. He had never answered with that before. In fact their talk of the Inquisition itself was limited throughout the years. They spoke of the days before Nicolynn was born but it had never been about what, specifically, they had done in the order. She stopped walking for a moment and looked at him quizzically.
He gave a short chuckle at the glance she shot him and wrapped his right arm around her side. She leaned in close to him, taking comfort in the warmth of his body. "It is not so much the order itself but how we were when we still fought Corypheus, before the Veil came down." He spoke softly as he pulled her along down the path. Kieran and the children shouldn't be far but he grew weary that the young man had taken them further than he'd said. "I think back to our lives before Nicolynn and Mythalus, before we defeated the Tevinter Magister, and I see how desperate and worried we were. It was a terrible time to fall in love and yet here we are. That night that I told you everything, you were so understanding. You accepted everything I had to say without question and for the longest time I could not fathom how you could still want me. I don't say it enough, Vhenan." He confessed intertwining their fingers. "I am eternally grateful for your acceptance and love. You have made my life the very picture of what I thought it never would be." He continued. There was more behind his voice though. There was something else.
"I tried to tell you everything that night, to come absolutely clean. And I had for a time but after Corypheus was killed and you told me you were with child, I had to do something about the Veil to protect our family." His eyes were on her as she observed him, wondering what was going through her head as he spoke. How would she react to what he needed to tell her? He had no idea how it would go and it had his mind spiraling. "Kieran told you yesterday that there was something I hadn't told you about Mythalus. He was not lying and I failed to tell you last night because I was entranced by your other worldly capabilities. But it is important that you know. I will not ask you to understand. If you do not, I will accept your anger as it is justified." He seemed somber for a moment as he prepared what he was going to say, hoping for a positive response.
