Keiran was the one to face him in the end. He looked him in the eyes. He struck him with his staff. He plunged the hilt through his chest. And he killed him.
It was easy enough. But his heart hurt at the act. He saw his father's mangled body at Gilderoy's feet, saw his blood on his hands. He also saw the death cascading around him at the hands of this monster. Solas. Cassandra. Maeve. Cullen. Alistair. Leliana. Cole.
Every. Last. One.
Dead. Bloodied. Gone.
He wonders now how he will tell all of those children that their parents are dead. He wonders how he will console them, how he will push past their tears, how they will be able to move past this one day. The answer is simply. He won't. They won't. They can't.
It is only wen his mother, in the shape of her crow, flies in a circle around him ad lands. She forms back into herself and tilts her head, looking at him curiously. she knows exactly why tears stain his cheeks, why he is sad and broken only slightly. He had a father for a few short months. No he doesn't. Not having him before wasn't so bad. But having Alistair ripped away from him is far far worse. "Come now, Keiran. We must leave here before attention is called to this place." She tells him, hand on his shoulder.
She makes to walk off, stepping toward the edge of the battlements. Keiran looks down at his feet, uncertain of what he is about to say. "No." He states. Defying her is a risky move, but one he is willing to make. These children have lost their parents. All of them. He has only lost one and his heart hurts worse than it ever has. He cannot imagine what it would feel like to also be abandoned by those that you trusted directly after that. "I cannot. I will stay. They need someone to guide them, someone to train them." Morrigan chuckled. "And that someone is you?" She merely laughs at her boy and puts her back to him.
"Suit yourself." She mutters before leaping from the edge of the tower. Her figure disappears below then a crow swoops high into the air, soaring off into the distance.
Keiran goes back to the eluvian. He opens it, sticking his hand through, telling them to come back. They each hold expectant hopeful smiles. He is forced to crush those smiles. He looks on them and the ray of light they once were dwindles with the truth as another generation of Inquisition remnants is left behind.
