An Unexpected Turn Of Events (Loki Fanfiction)

Chapter 13

*Kayden's POV*

Shortly after Loki and I made the agreement not to jump to any conclusions, mom woke up. It looked like she barely realised where she was, but she smiled as soon as she saw me. "We never had a chance to finish our conversation." she said, looking at Loki. He seemed confused at first, but remembered the little talk they had about me. "What do you want to know?" he asked. Mom thinks about it for a while before answering. "Well.. Are you two 'officially' a couple?" she finally asked. Loki and I look at each other for a moment, and he finally asked the question I couldn't manage to ask him. "Do you want to be together with me? As in boyfriend together. Obviously we've spent the last couple of days together." I could tell he was feeling a bit awkward, asking this in front of my mother. "Of course I want that. I wouldn't let you into my room if I didn't." Mom suddenly turns to look at me, and I realised that probably sounded a bit odd to her. "I made him watch cabin in the woods. We fell asleep, or well, I did, and he was gone when I woke up." I explained. She let out a sigh of relief, before laughing. "What's so funny?" I asked. "Look who finally got over his crush on Jason after all this time." she gave me a wink and I started to laugh. "Who's Jason? Did I miss something?" Loki asked, looking extremely confused. I explain that I used to have this massive crush on him, even though he was straight and had a girlfriend. "Actually.. He works at the palace too now that I think about it."

After that we had some talks about things that seem so unimportant, but actually matter once you haven't seen each other for so long. A nurse walked into the room, telling us it was time to go. I gave my mom a kiss, and said we'd be back the next day. "It was a pleasure to meet you Jocelyn." Loki said, and he smiled at her. "Likewise. Now go! Before that woman comes back. Good night you two." she laughed. We said good night to her, and walked out just in time, 'cause the nurse was on her way back to check whether all the visitors had left. Once we got outside, we realised that we had absolutely no idea how to get back to the palace. I started to laugh at our own stupidity, and Loki gave me a weird look. " Well the car's still here. I don't suppose you can drive?" I laughed at him. I took the keys out of my pocket, the woman that drove us here had given them to me, saying she was going to visit family. "Come on Loki. Luckily for us, I do have a driver's license." "I'm not sure whether I should consider myself lucky for that. How long has it been since you drove a car?" "Uh.. Just over 5 years. But hey! Hospital is right here." For some reason I was feeling quite okay, and I just couldn't stop laughing. I got into the car, and Loki followed, after a short moment of hesitating. I started the engine, and gave Loki a smile. "Last chance to get out." "Just drive already." he laughed.

It took me some time to get used to it again, but we arrived back at the palace without hitting any trees, which I considered a success. I parked the car, and gave Loki the keys. "I don't know where you usually keep them so yeah." "Keep them. We've got more cars left here, and I think it would be a good thing for you to be able to go out every now and then." he answered, while walking towards the entrance of his palace. "Are you coming Kayden?" I ran up to him, and gave him a hug. "Thanks. For everything so far." We stood there for a while, until he let go. "Lets go inside. It's getting dark outside."

"So what now? I mean, my mom isn't exactly one to keep her mouth shut when I'm only just together with someone." I asked him. He thought about it for a while. "Well I guess we should introduce you as my partner then. Don't you think?" I felt my heart beat in my throat. I've never really been a fan of being at the centre of attention. "Don't worry. I'll be right there with you." he gave me a reassuring smile, and I nodded. He grabbed my hand, and we walked towards his bedroom. I suddenly felt how tired I actually was, and just jumped onto his bed. "Shouldn't you get changed first?" Loki laughed at me. "Only if you'll carry me to the bathroom again. I'm too tired to walk."

*Loki's POV*

I laughed at Kayden. He really seemed too tired to walk, so I picked him up just like I did this morning and carried him towards the bathroom. "Do you want to shower?" I asked. "No I'm just gonna get changed and then crawl back to bed. Today's been a long day." he answered, sounding like he could fall asleep right there. "Okay, I'll see you in a bit then." I walked towards the bed, and started reading my book. Or at least I tried to, but my mind kept replaying everything that happened today. From the awkward dare we had this morning, to Kayden getting angry at me, and us officially starting to date. I felt kind of bad for not telling him that I had found his mom sooner, so I couldn't really blame him for getting angry at me either. Even though it seemed as if he forgot about it since the moment he saw his mother again.

Kayden walked back into the room, looking extremely tired. "All yours." he said, pointing at the bathroom. I sighed and got up. By the time I got back to bed, Kayden was already asleep. I carefully gave him a kiss on his cheek, trying not to wake him and laid down next to him. "I love you, you know." he said. "I thought you were already asleep. I love you too." Kayden smiled, and I pulled him closer, with absolutely no intentions to ever let him go again. I knew I had to at some point. He'd grow old eventually, and then like every human, he'd die, and I'd have to live on. Realising this, I pulled him even closer. "You're going to crush me Loki." He laughed, and so did I, but you could hear that I felt sad. He opened his eyes and looked at me. "What's wrong?" "I'll explain later. You need some sleep. Tomorrow, I promise." "Are you sure?" I nodded, and Kayden looked at me for a while before doing the same. He wrapped his arms around me, and fell asleep within minutes. I stayed awake for just a bit longer, trying to figure out how I was going to tell him what I just realised, but soon fell asleep too. Maybe today took its toll on me as well.
