As Hadrat Fatima (Radi Allahu anha) was a quintessence of the Messenger (Sallall Allahu Ta’ala Alaihi Wasallam) of Allah (Subhanah Wa Ta’ala), she always preferred to do all the housework herself.
Her hands got blistered due to working on a grindstone; her clothes became dirty for sweeping the floor.
Hadrat Ali (Radi Allahu anho) reported that one-day Hadrat Fatima (Radi Allahu anha) went to her father’s house to ask for a slave or a servant who would perform all the chores but the Blessed Prophet (Sallall Allahu Ta’ala Alaihi Wasallam) was not home, She apprised Hadrat Aisha (Radi Allahu anha) of her condition and came back.
At night, the Prophet (Sallall Allahu Ta’ala Alaihi Wasallam) went to their house and said:
“I shall tell you a thing which is better for you than a slave?” “When you go to bed”, recite, 33 times Subhanallah (Glory to Allah), 33 times Alhamdu Lillah (All Praise on to Allah), and 34 times Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest). This will be better for you than a servant.” (Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi)
