Bucky shifted from side to side but finally brought out the words "I want to be your boyfriend."

Steve nearly dropped his cup and looked at his watch. "Oh my god Bucky, I gotta go!" Steve said and stood up. Bucky was still sitting at the table and watched Steve in confusion. "Why?" Bucky blurted out, feeling the pain of rejection settling down in his stomach. "I've got an important meeting with Natasha today!" Steve finished his coffee. "And I don't want to be late." Steve answered and ran to their bedroom to put on some clothes.
Bucky just stayed on his chair, a bit too surprised of Steves action - in a negative way and thought about his question. Did he do something wrong? Was Steve not into a relationship with him? What if Steve didn't want him? "I'll be back in a few hours Buck." Steve shouted from their bedroom and Bucky whispered an absent "Yes." "Are you okay?" Steve asked on his way towards the door. He stopped in front of it and saw Bucky sitting at the table, looking on his empty plate with a sad look. "Bucky, are you ok?" Steve repeated concerned and got a little closer. Buckys head finally jerked up. "Yes, yes I'm fine." Bucky said with a tiny smile and waved at him. Steve smiled back. "Can we talk about the whole boyfriend thing later? I'm in a hurry now and.. you know?" Steve said with a pityfull expression."Yeah." Bucky said and saw Steve smiling even more as he said a simple "Goodbye." and closed the door behind him.

Steve arrived at the Tower. He met Natasha in the lounge and followed her into the big living room of the Avengers.

"Alright, so what are we going to discuss?" Steve said and looked at the womans glowing eyes. "Is it about the new flat you wanted me to move into because it's not gonna happen. I like my old, tiny flat... whick actually isn't tiny at all." Steve chuckled and sat down on one of the chairs. Natasha swung the red waves of her hair over her shoulder. "Steve, it is about the Wintersoldier." she finally said with a serious voice. "His name is Bucky." Steve murmured and watched the black Widow as she stood behind the couch. "So.. I know we talked about this quite a few times now but... it's still important." She said and coughed. "Some of us had the idea to keep the Wintersoldier in a cell. It would be like a room - a comfortable room." The woman stated and Steves eyes widened. "You could visit him once ir twice a week and..." Natasha stopped when she saw Steves expression darkening. "This is what we're here for?!" Steve roared. "It's safer for us!" Natasha said angrily, her face nearly as red as her hair. "I want him in a cell, I don't care if he's in a cell or dead or iced, I just want him away from us! From the people and the Avengers and you Steve." Steve blinked. "ME?! Why would I want him away from me??? You can't put him in a cell Natasha! He's not an animal. If you do that, he's going to die." "So what?" Natasha said and looked at Steve like she didn't care. "NATASHA, HE IS MY FRIEND!" Steve screamed angrily. "HE DOESN'T WANT YOU ANYMORE STEVE! YOU MAY THINK IT'S LOVE WHEN YOU LOOK INTO HIS EYES - BUT IT'S NOT!" Natasha shouted back. "He just wants to kill you, that's what he wants! He is an icecold killermachine and he never loved you. He never will love you Steve! There's nobody here that understands you, NOBODY WANTS YOU HERE!" The words hit Steve right in the face. They made his heart clench and burst into thousands of cold pieces. How could she - how could she talk about Bucky like that? Why did she act like that towards Steve? Steve thought Natasha was a friend. "And if you ignore the fact that Bucky killed Tonys parents, then you killed them too." Natasha hissed and clenched her fists.. Steve looked at her in disbelieve. "I thought we were friends." Steves voice nearly broke at that. He shook his head unbelieving and got out of his seat. He made his way to the door. "I never said that. That's what you wanted me to be." Natasha whispered. Silence. "I'm sorry of thinking that." Steve said, trying to hide the pain and hurt in his voice. He opened the door and slammed it shut.

He was hurt. He was in such pain, he thought he couldn't take it anymore. The tears in his eyes wanted to roll down his face but Steve held them back and he breathed heavily as he ran down the corridor. "STEVE!" Natasha screamed but he ignored her. He hated her. How could he think he could trust her. After saving her life, standing by her side in good and bad times she didn't see him as a friend and hurt him in his most vulnerable spot. He'd never forgive her. Never.
