The last thing Bucky heard was Steves blurry voice saying something like "He's shot.."

"BUCKY!" Steve shouted when they entered the hospital. Bucky needed to be okay, he had to be okay. He saw a bunch of nurses and other people rushing and sprinting towards Buckys bed. What were they doing! They were to many! People, doctors and helpers, brought Buckys bed into a big, extra room.

Steve saw a guy cutting Buckys uniform open with a knife and ripping it off of his chest. Steves breath hitched at the sudden move. "Bucky!" Steve screamed when he saw his Bucky being touched in such a brutal way. "NO!" Steve screamed when was pulled back by Sams strong hands. "Cap, they'll help him!" Sam shouted but couldn't calm Steve down. Steve still searched for any movement of Buckys body.

Bucky had to move, he had to, he had to. BUCKY NEEDED TO BE ALIVE. ALL THIS SUPERSOLDIER SERUM - WHAT WAS IT GOOD FOR?!

But all Bucky did was lay there on the bed, not making any move, his face as colourless and pale as the white bedsheets. His wet, dark hair was pressed against his fore head and his lips were red and covered in his own blood.

A doctor pushed a needle into Buckys arm, pushing it through his skin with such strength and power that Steves voice got sore from screaming. He didn't care about the people looking at him like he was out of his mind. Steve thought that Bucky had to wake up due to the sting but he still didn't move.

Bucky looked so weak, so helpless and at the same time he looked happy too. All the anger, all the stress and the current fear of being hunted and hurt had vanished from Bucky sad, grey eyes and his body seemed to be having a peacefull and needed rest. A rest that looked like it would never end.

Bucky didn't look like a fighter or an assasin right now - no, not at all. He didn't look afraid like whenever Bucky was out in public, talking to others, without Steve by his side. If Steve wasn't with him, Bucky felt alone and helpless. Steve knew how uncomfortable his Bucky was when out in public or near others. Bucky hated 'people'.

Bucky would want him to stay down and let it go. At that point, Steve decided to give up his fight against Sam, who was holding him back with all his strength, and relaxed. "I'ts going to be okay." Sam said. Steve only nodded absently, his head hanging down in pure guilt and sorrow.

Steve felt guilty, he felt so guilty of letting Bucky, his Bucky, down. "I'm always too late." Steve whispered and shook his head in pure disgust of himself. "Steve, it's not your -" Sam tried to say but Steve cut him off. "NO! I don't want to hear it. All my live, I've been told it was not my fault and this and that is not my fault - BUT IT IS!" Steve hissed.

"Just because I'm Captain America and have to keep a country save, doesn't mean I can't make mistakes. You make me look like I'm perfect, like I'm not guilty of ANYTHING - but I AM!" Steve shook his head and took one last look at Bucky before the doors were slammed shut.

"You, all of you make me feel like I am not allowed to make any mistake. You make me feel like I'm not even human. BUT I AM HUMAN!" Steve literally ran out of the hospital, Sam following him at a unhuman speed.

"Steve - slow down!" Sam groaned after a while of silence. "Look Steve." Sam began and sat down on a bench. Steve sighed and sat down beside him. "Steve, I did never say that you're perfect. We all have our flaws. But to me, it looks like you got a lot of things on your mind." Sam continued and watched Steve closely. "Maybe you should tell somebody about your problems." Sam said and patted Steves shoulder.

He hoped that he got through Steves thick wall of self protection and trust issues this time. Just when he wanted to go on, Steve flinched. "No." Steve simply stated and looked at the ground. "Bucky is more important to me than myself. You don't know how - how much he means to me. I won't talk about my shit, if Bucky is - is nearly.." Steve held back the tears in his eyes and breathed heavily.

After a while, Sam said "Cap, listen to me." He looked into Steves deep, blue eyes. "You have to stay calm. Bucky needs you to stay calm. We all want you to be okay. So you have to stay strong now and believe in the one word." Sam said. Steve tilted his head in confusion. "Which word?" Steve asked. "Hope." Sam said.

Just when the were about to head back to the hospital, Steves phone rang. "Hello?" Steve asked and stopped ar the doctors voice. "Sir Rogers - It's about your friend James Barnes."
