It's a Saturday morning and I'm working at home. I should be taking a break. Jericho's text said he'll be over later for dinner. Good. I wanted to bombard him with questions. I didn't know anything about him and from what I saw yesterday there is so much more to this man than what meets the eye. I needed to know more about him and I'll do whatever it takes.

We have a clear understanding that I didn't want to be reminded of his double life. What we felt for each other was immense and it ran deep which was astounding to us both. The fact that we just met and were already feeling so strongly for each other... We just needed to ride it out, see what happens.

In the back of my mind there was this nagging voice telling me there was no such thing as a happy ever after with him that I should get out while I can. Beneath all his charm and good looks there was a really fucked up person, a person who enjoys terrorizing, torturing, and killing innocent people. Although I couldn't help the way this man makes me feel I know this was a serious problem that may or may not come between us.

My phone vibrates beside me, interrupting my reverie. "Hello."

"Mo?" A delicate feminine voice said. I paused. There was only one person in the world who called me "Mo"...

"Makayla," I breathed. My heart skipped a beat and began to pound hard. There was a rather long silence between us. We sent e-mails and pictures, but we never called each other.

Makayla broke down over the phone. "I'm so sorry, Mo, I'm so sorry," she sobbed. "I treated you so wrong over the years, but when our parents died so suddenly it broke me. I couldn't handle it and you were just so strong... I ran away foolishly thinking you'll be okay. I should have never left you, I'm sorry. Can you forgive me?"

I didn't realize I was crying until I felt the tears hitting my chest. I closed my eyes and a sob escaped me. Mackayla and I cried together, for our parents, for hurting each other. After ten minutes that's when I felt the weight lift off my shoulders. "Yes, Mac, I forgive you." We both laughed over the phone, something we hadn't done in years.

"I'm coming home-well Chase and I are coming home. We're in France now." She laughed again and it held joy. "There's something I want to tell you. I can't wait any longer."

"So tell me!"

"I'm thirteen weeks pregnant!" My heart skipped a beat again.

"Bitch, are you telling me I'm gonna be an Auntie!" I yelled shooting up off my bed.

"Yesss, bitch!"

"Ahhhhhhh, OH MY GOD!" We both screamed.

We talked for hours about her trip and her husband. I just couldn't bring myself to tell her about Jericho... not yet at least. The real reason she's returning home is for the baby. Both Mackayla and Chase want their baby to be born in the United States. I felt so relieved to have been reconciled with my big sister.

"Hey sweet thing, did you miss me?" I gaze up from my laptop to see Jericho entering my apartment with a key he "mysteriously" got made. As a journalist, I learned that starting a conversation with 'we need to talk' is never a good idea. You have to ease the person into the inquisition, make them feel comfortable. Give the impression that you're a friendly and trustworthy person.

I put on a very bright smile, beaming. He freezes, watching my every move as I glide towards him, hips swaying. "You're glowing," he said. He was so much taller than me I literally had to stand on the tips of my toes to kiss him. "Mmm, raspberry chap stick." Jericho captures my bottom lip with his teeth and sucks on it. "I haven't tasted you in a while." I shivered, knowing exactly what he meant.

"I see you made a key," I breathed. I had to start the inquisition right now before my ability to think escaped me. His lips moved to my neck. I grabbed his shoulder blades clinging to him. He pulled me closer.

"Sex or salad, your choice? And yes I had a key made. I just want to make sure my woman is safe. That there's no hazards in your home that may harm you."

I giggle then gasp as I feel his teeth lightly sink into my neck. He sucked on my sensitive spot. A moan involuntarily escaped my lips. "Overprotective Boyfriend!" I teased.

He paused then looks me in the eye, grabbing my chin forcing me to meet his gaze. His grey eyes became extremely intense. I experience firsthand what Gigi was talking about. "I hate that term "boyfriend". Who came up with that shit? A group of teens trippin' off acid? I'm your man and you're my woman and we are in a relationship. "

"Oh," I breathe, dreamily. God, he was so sexy.

Get a grip, Mona!

I do a brisk inner shake and put on my journalist facade. I cock a brow. "Relationship, huh?"

"Yes, Mona, a relationship. Do I need to spell it out for you?"

"How old are you?" he gives me a look. I shrug. "We're in a relationship. Don't you think I should know that?"

"Thirty-two," he revealed and walked passed me into the kitchen. I watched as he washed his hands thoroughly then went into my fridge. "You didn't notice I went grocery shopping?"

"You did?" I asked, dumfounded. He nods. To tell the truth I hadn't even went into the fridge. I skipped breakfast and spent the rest of the day talking to my sister. A moment later I sat at the breakfast nook watching as he began to prepare the salad. "Thank you."

"Don't. It's my job to take care of you."

"Speaking of jobs," I began. "Where do you work? Relationship, remember." Jericho's back was to me, giving me a spectacular view. Today he opted for a simple black-t and jeans, but he wore it like a model would on the cat-walk. Really, he did.

Jericho froze while cutting the meat then continued a second later. "I'm good with my hands and I'm very visual." Yeah all of Dove City was aware of that. "I design and build things. I'm an architect, Mona."

"Oh." I suspected that. "Have you dated a black woman before?" Yeah, I didn't quite ease that one in as smoothly as I had planned.

Jericho spun around to face me with a smirk on his face. "Once."

I cock a brow. "Oh?"

Interesting.

"Years ago." his smirk turns into a grin. "Her name was Khadijah and she took my virginity." he shakes his head. "I was head over heels for her."

I ignored the tinge of jealousy I was feeling. "What happened to her?"

His smile diminishes and a stone-cold expression crosses his face. "Her husband beat her to death." He turns back around and continues preparing the salad while I stare at his back with both shock and horror. A moment later he places the meat salad before me. "Eat up, you're gonna need all the calories you can get for what I have in mind for you."

A/N: If you have any questions like...

Q: What the fuck is wrong with her? Like why is she with this dude? He crazy!💁

A: If you haven't noticed by now, Mona is a far darker character than Jericho. She knows exactly what he does and still sticks around. When she first encounters him her attraction to him haunts her. She is fascinated with him but pretends to be appalled by his behavior. I know some people finds this to be annoying that she fights him yet still stays. Mona is in a midst of internal battle with herself and is struggling with her response to him. She knows this isn't normal. AND the fact that he's sexy, charming, and caring doesn't make it any easier. I dare say she's just as psychotic as him.
