****Melanie's P.O.V****
My breathing hitched in my throat, as Harry peered up at me with his emerald green eyes, framed by his dark lashes, waiting for my answer. His eyes were glossed over with tears, with what I assumed was joy and desperation.
My mouth had run dry, and it felt like I had forgotten how to speak. My eyes were wide, and I sat on the bed, still and in shock, as Harry knelt down on one knee in front of me. The ring was beautiful, it really was, and Harry clearly spent a lot of money on it. Did I really mean that much to him? I knew he did, but it was still new to me seeing him act like it.
"Please say something, baby." Harry pleaded.
"I...I don't know what to say." I gasped in awe.
"Say yes. Say you'll spend the rest of your life with me, and we can raise our family together. I can wake up with you every morning, and look after you, raise our beautiful Darcy. Say yes and let us start our own life together." he begged. "I love you. he whispered.
"Harry, yes." I smiled. "Yes, I'll marry you!" I laughed. Harry burst into his beautiful dimpled smile, and wrapped his strong muscular arms around me, kissing me over and over and over again, causing me to giggle, as Harry attacked me with his lips.
"You just made me the happiest man in the world, Mel!" he beamed. Harry grabbed my hand, kissing it several times, before sliding the diamond onto my finger. I smiled once it sat on my finger, and Harry gently kissed the top of it. "My Melanie." he whispered. "My baby girl."
"I admit, never did I ever think I'd be Mrs Styles." I chuckled softly.
"I dreamed of it, but I never thought you'd say yes." he admitted. "You just made my dreams come true."
"I'm glad I could be of assistance." I teased, sticking my tongue out.
"So am I." he smiled, kissing my cheek. "So am I."
"Uh, sorry to ruin the moment." Both of our heads turned to the doorway, to see Doctor Williams, who told us to call him Damon, standing there. "Congratulations on the engagement though." he smiled politely.
"Thank you." I smiled up at him.
"Would you two like a photo of the baby scan? As a souvenir I suppose." he laugh lightly.
"Yes!" Harry chirped. "Uh, I mean, yes thanks." he coughed awkwardly, covering his outburst. Damon smiled and handed me the photo. It was hard to see it at first, but I managed to spot the small growing baby, Harry having his arms around my torso, head on my shoulder, looking at it in admiration as well.
"That's inside me?" I whispered in amazement, Harry pecking me on the neck a few times, his curls tickling my skin.
"Indeed it is." Damon smiled. "Hard to believe now, but it is, and it's growing all the time. If that amazes you, wait until you hold the baby in your arms for the first time. Your almost a month along, and in eight months time, that baby will be out of your tummy, and in this world."
"I'll have to protect her from the harsh cold world then." I half-joked.
"Agreed. There are some bad evil people in this world." Damon sighed. "People always prey on the helpless innocent ones. You're lucky you found a real gentlemen Melanie." he encouraged.
I smiled back, but didn't answer. Harry said nothing either, just remained quite. Damon was right, this world was cruel. Harry had hurt me, preyed on the innocent. Damon didn't know he had hit a soft spot for me and Harry, totally unaware of what had been said.
Although Harry had taken advantage of me, he had changed. Harry's eyes didn't hold the darkness they used to. The eyes are the window to the soul, and I can see it is full with love for me. Harry hates himself four hurting me, that much had been made clear.
"That is all?" Harry suddenly asked, breaking my from my world of thoughts.
"Yes, that is all. I'll see you for your next scan in a month's time." he smiled. Harry nodded, taking me hand and helping me to my feet. Harry escorted me out the building, leading us over the his black Range Rover. Harry seemed to be in a hurry, and I found myself near a jog, holding his hand, trying to keep up with his fast pace.
"Harry, please slow down." I asked. Harry mumbled an apology, slowing down his pace for me, but still moving faster than normal. We reached his car, and he opened the car door for me. I got in quickly. Harry slammed the door shut, and I flinched from the fright. Harry jogged around the front of the car, hoping in the drivers seat, slamming his door closed.
Harry let out an angry sigh of distress, banging his hands onto the steering wheel, causing the horn to sound. A small yelp left my lips in shock. Harry apologized again, but banged his head against the wheel, resting his head against it. He let out a groaned, his hands clenching the wheel so tightly I thought he was going to rip it off.
"Harry, are you okay?" I asked softly, placing my hand on his back softly.
"No." Harry huffed. "He was right .This world in cold and cruel, filled with monsters like me! I hurt you Melanie! So fucking much! I don't deserve you! How can I raise I child, like I'm a good man?! How could I possible protect my Darcy from sick twisted men, when her own father is one of them!!??" he fumed, hands slamming into the dashboard.
"Babe, look at me." I demanded softly. Harry peered at me, tears spilling down his checks, pain consuming his usual bright green glistening eyes. "Harry, you did hurt me, but you changed. If you were a monster, you wouldn't have changed, you would still be hurting me. The cruel and evil ones harm others with no guilt, so hint of a conscience. Do you remember those times you hit me Harry?" I asked.
"Yes." his voice cracked, filled with pain.
"Your eyes, they weren't dark. They were filled with guilt. So much guilt, Harry. You couldn't even look at me in pain, knowing it was your fault. You walked out, the damage too much for you. And do you remember what you did, Harry? You went into the next room, and worked on a room for our child. That is not evil Harry. That was from the goodness in your heart. You can't fake that, you have a good heart. We all have our demons to fight, and we can't let them win. And right now, you're winning. If you were a monster, what Damon just said, wouldn't care, you would shrug it off. But look at you, you're upset, and angry with yourself. You're a good man, Harry. You made mistakes, but we all have a dark side, but we can let out light side out shine our dark shadows, just like you did."
Tears were pouring down Harry's face, and I pulled him into my arms, kissing him, and his instantly kissed me back.
"I did it for you. I'm strong for you." he whispered.
"Stay strong." I encouraged.
"I'm weaker without you baby. You make me strong." he smiled.
"Then I'll always be here to keep you strong."
