Recap from Chapter 15:

“Famous people don’t like it when you go up to them and just start fan-talking. Stay here and wait for one to talk to you.” I told him, and he went into his whimpering mode. I saw Kelly Clarkson entering and heading over towards me. I smiled and she ran over to me as fast as she could in 5-inch heels.

“Alex! How are you?” She asked, taking a seat in the recliner next to me.

“Great. How’s your tour going, Kel?” I asked her.

“Perfect. My last album just went multi-platinum.”

“That’s superb.”

“You know it. So who’s this charming fellow?”

“Kelly, this is my boyfriend Jack Corbin. Jack, this is Kelly Clarkson.”

“Hello Jack.” Kelly stuck out her hand for Jack to shake and he did.

“Hi Kelly.”

“So, Jack, what have you done to my sweet Alex?”

“Nothing.”

“Good, cause you need to until you’re married. I have to go. Blake’s calling.”

“Bye.”

I turned back to Jack, who was licking his lips like he was waiting for a kiss.

“No.”

“Fine.”

After that, we went over to the restaurant that was serving fondue in little pots. We ate up, then Chris and Mom drove us home.

I crashed. Today had been a long one with the tickle fights and I still had bruises from Lillian’s claws (fingernails). I laid down, grabbing my Kindle, but fell asleep before even getting to the next page.

The next day, I woke up with the TV, blaring its constant gibberish about what was happening between Kim Kardashian and her rebel child, North West. I flipped between channels, until passing a familiar red head and my father.

“Ms. Sally Vlaydon and her crime partner John Clark have escaped from Aquamarine County Jail and have been running loose in Malibu, California. Please keep on the look out for a perky red-head with thick weird glasses and a brown short haired man who talks in gibberish.” Then the news program shut off. I needed to read the part before it was too late.

I picked up my computer and sat it on my lap, before reciting each word that I had written two weeks before. I turned on the television and saw what I thought was a car on fire, and the caption VLAYDON DEAD BEFORE ARRESTED. Her arrest was starting to become a big deal.

It was over and finally I could go back to college, instead of living with my parents. I wrote it down in my diary.

ALEXANDRIA’S DIARY

Entry #208

Dear Diary,

Today is the day I can go back to college. Ms. Vlaydon is gone for good and I am finally able to get my boyfriend and friend back forever this time. It is almost the summer though and that means no Emily for a month. I guess I will just have to sleep on the plane over to Stanford.

Tired,

Alex.
