Harley's POV

Harley wondered which bone had been crushed beyond recognition as she lifted her left eyelid, cautiously glancing around. The room was empty, eerily so. "Puddin'?" she called out, her voice laced with confusion.

She turned her head, scanning the space. Even their men were gone. The rope that Batman had once been dangling from now swayed gently, moving with the wind that had crept in from the cracked windows. Harley's eyes narrowed as she moved toward the door.

Her hand reached out to push it open, but she froze, her body tensing as she tilted her head toward the sound of Joker's manic laughter echoing through the air.

"Puddin'!" she called, pushing the door open with force, nearly sprinting as she searched for him. His laugh filled the air, bouncing off the walls in all directions. Harley stopped every few moments, listening for the familiar sound, but it seemed to come from a completely different part of the room each time.

Her heart raced. She slid down the cold wall, her back scraping against it as she collapsed to the floor in frustration.

Her fists clenched tightly, her breath coming in quick, shallow gasps as the laughter continued to surround her. "Wh—Who's there?" she cried out, her eyes narrowing, but no response came.

Harley pushed herself up from the floor, dusting off her suit and pausing to survey her surroundings. There was nothing. Only the sound of Joker's laugh, echoing in the darkness.

With a determined, wild gleam in her eye, she began moving forward, choosing a random direction, feeling the thrill of the hunt.

Joker's POV

The Joker smirked as he paced around Batman, who stood silent, unfazed by the chaos surrounding them. "Come on, Bats. Give her a hint," he taunted, his voice dripping with glee. His maniacal laugh filled the room.

Batman turned away, his usual frown still etched across his face. "She'll be fine," he muttered, peering through the door where Joker's men lay scattered across the ground.

Joker could hear Harley's voice echoing through the halls, calling for him. But before he could respond, Batman quickly pressed a gloved hand over his mouth, cutting him off. With a quick motion, he pressed play on a recording of Joker's own laughter, a much older one that sounded grainy and distant.

Joker rolled his eyes in exasperation. "He just had to use that old one," he muttered under his breath, irritated.

"She won't hurt you if you just let me go..." Batman began, but his words were interrupted by a sudden crash as the door was slammed open.

Harley stood in the doorway, her eyes wild, her hammer gripped tightly in her hands. Her lips curled into a wicked grin.

"Miss me?" she asked, her voice sweet but laced with malice.

Joker's grin widened. It seemed the real fun was just beginning.
