"Alright, Nightwing, be careful—Ivy's with them," Batman instructed as he gripped the steering wheel tightly, keeping his focus on the chase. Nightwing, ever the eager fighter, was already ahead, weaving through traffic on his motorcycle.
Nightwing jumped off the bike, his electrified staff ready in his hand. His intent was clear: he was going after Harley and the Joker. But before he could make a move, a thick vine shot out from the shadows, grabbing the staff and yanking it from his grip. He fell to the ground, landing with a painful thud just inches from the laughing Joker and Harley.
The Joker's laugh echoed in the night air as Nightwing tried to scramble to his feet, but a boot pressed down on his back, forcing him back to the ground.
"Ah-ah-ah," Joker taunted, the barrel of his gun now aimed at Nightwing's head. He shifted his aim downward, settling on the hero's back, and squeezed the trigger. A loud bang rang through the night.
Nightwing cried out in pain, his body jolting from the impact as the bullet tore through his suit and into his skin. He gritted his teeth, knowing it wasn't a fatal shot, but it was enough to keep him from moving. Joker had hoped for more, but he had intentionally avoided hitting any major arteries. Still, he was satisfied with the outcome.
Harley's eyes shone with affection as she watched the Joker, her heart and mind completely focused on him. Her world was always about him—no matter the abuse or the chaos he caused, she would always return to him, and that was just how she wanted it.
"I'm sorry for earlier, dollface," Joker growled, his voice softening as he cupped her face in his hands. His thumb grazed over her bruised cheek, and in that moment, she forgot about everything else. She forgot about the pain, the humiliation—anything that happened earlier didn't matter when he was close.
"Oh, puddin'!" she squealed in delight, throwing her arms around his neck and planting a passionate kiss on him.
The kiss stretched on, too long for Ivy, who finally cleared her throat in impatience behind them. Joker was the one to pull away, leaving Harley breathless and flushed, her lips still parted as her eyes locked on him.
"Here's our ride, doll," he said with a devilish grin as a rope dropped from a helicopter above them. Harley hadn't noticed the plan in motion, too caught up in the moment. Joker's men were already working to pull it up, preparing for their escape while Ivy distracted the Bat.
Joker wrapped his arm tightly around Harley's waist as he grabbed the rope. "This has been fun, but we've got to go." His voice was laced with mock sweetness. "Busy, busy schedule."
Together, they climbed into the helicopter, laughing and shouting their goodbyes as it ascended into the sky. The Bat remained grounded with Ivy and Nightwing, who was still groaning in pain from the shot.
Ivy leaned out the window of her car, blowing a poisonous kiss towards the incapacitated heroes. "Bye-bye, boys," she taunted, before revving her engine and speeding off into the night.
Batman hovered over Nightwing, carefully lifting him and helping him to his feet. Nightwing winced, clearly in agony, but he managed to stay upright. Together, they walked to the car, the sound of the helicopter's blades fading into the distance as the villainous duo made their escape.
