Continued from chapter Fifteen...

It seemed like only a few minutes that I was alone with Jefferson in his office, but it was heavenly. His manner towards me wasn't angry or strained, he seemed true to himself and I could tell he had missed me as well.

I feel guilty however, he shouldn't have been kind to me. I am trying work against him. We are on different sides. I'm the bad guy and he is the good guy. The thought lingered in the back of my mind despite my attempts to push it away.

Anyway, I sat in his lap for some time as we talked. I felt safe with him, perhaps that is part of why I didn't want him to quit his job as a Gyardican. He would no longer be there to protect me. I could be dead now if it weren't for him. I know there are some Gyardicans that would love to sneak into my cell and kill me. They have not done it thus far because of Jefferson. He would probably have them killed if they touched me. So for that reason, I am glad he is the Captain of the Guard, even if it makes him my enemy.

Jefferson rested his chin in the crook of my neck, holding me. "have you thought of any names yet? I mean, we have to got to name three babies."

I thought for a moment, "I like the name Kenneth."

He chuckled, "the baby boy that is born first, we will call him Kenneth."

I couldn't help but smile, "What is your favorite name for a girl?"

"Erika." He said, his hand on my belly, "but that one's already taken, so I think I'd say my next favorite is Jayna."

"Jayna..." I like it."

"What about Jackson? Benjamin? Austin?" He asked.

"Austin." I said. In our language, Austin means cornerstone. "I like it."

We eventually decided on those three names, Jayna, Kenneth, and Austin."

Suddenly a quiet knock sounded on the door. I recognized the knock immediately. It was Luna.

Jefferson quickly slid me off his lap and strode over to the door, "One moment."

He opened it, "Luna? I didn't know you were coming today."

I heard her sweet voice with a twinge of sourness in it, "Apologies, but I thought I'd check by to see if you're busy. This is my brother, he came home yesterday and he'd like to see mother as much as I would."

When she said those words, the hair on my arms stood up, Chris was here? I stepped in front of Jefferson to face them. He didn't stop me. "Luna? Christopher?"

Both of their faces switched to mine in an instant, forgetting about Jefferson. "Mother?" Luna's forehead creased at the sight of me. Christopher's lips parted. I took in the sight of him. He had changed so much. His skin was darker and tanned, his blonde hair was spiked upwards in a rather unruly mess. His cheekbones were much more defined, making his features look sharp and well built. I was surprised how much he looked like me. His green eyes pierced through mine, as he glanced me up and down. It had been a year or two since I had seen him.

"Uh, why don't you guys come inside?" Jefferson beckoned and gently took me aside, "Are you up for this right now?" He whispered in my ear, "it's been an emotional enough day already."

I shook my head, "No. I'm fine, I haven't seen them in too long."

He shrugged, "Very well..." then he shut the door.

I smiled at my twins, holding out my arms to Luna. She accepted my embrace. I felt that there was some amount of tension between us, but she was still happy to see me. Then I turned to Chris. He swallowed and quirked a brow, "Hey... Mum. You look like you just got trodden over by a herd of horses."
