Jefferson quickly drags me with him, weaving through the people until we get to the dungeon door. Once it's shut behind us, he speaks with desperation laced in his tone, "So you managed to... What? Did I hear you correctly? Beat up Sir Bennett and lock him in your own cell?"

I grin, "First time I've ever knocked someone unconscious with handcuffs."

He turns his head to glance at me, shaking it with disbelief, "You... Are twisted; If it's true though, if you really did that. I'd be impressed. Sir Bennett is no fool."

He let go of my wrist as we came to a flight of winding stairs. I love that way that his feet travel nimbly down the stairs. His figure is so firm and strong and sturdy, yet agile.

I catch up and walk alongside him. His steps are so long that it takes two short strides of mine to equal one of his.

We reach my cell and he rushes to the bars and looks inside. I must have knocked him out cold because he is still there in the spot where I left him.

Jefferson gazes at me as I expectantly look up at him, like a cat that just brought him a dead bird.

He half smirks, half shakes his head again, "How... Erika how do you do such a thing? You're a pregnant woman, handcuffed. He's a fully functional, trained Gyardican. Just how?"

I look down, my voice quiet, "You and everyone else underestimated me. I guess you should be more cautious."

He laughs a broken laugh, "Perhaps I'll take that advice of yours."

His face is not pleased, but I can see that he can't find fault with what I did. He would attempt to do the same thing if put into my situation, we both know so.

All of a sudden, Bennett sits up, he sees Jefferson. "Captain! This isn't my fault. Catch her quick!"

Jefferson looks at me, "You know, Sir Bennett, the fact that a handcuffed woman beat you... I'd say that's your fault. No disrespect, but I'm finding that rather pathetic. I'm kinda on her side this time. You had no excuse to lose to her."

Sir Bennett looks at the dirty floor he's sitting on, silent.

I can't believe Jefferson just defended me. I watch as he frees the other Gyardican. "Go on back up to the Guild, I'm sure you can have the rest of the day off."

Bennett glares at me as he passes by, "Captain, be careful. She can't be trusted, even if you're married to her."

My husband quirks a brow, "Do not worry about me, I've got her."

Surprisingly, no one is down here still except us two.

"So who is the visitor?" I ask, hoping to distract him from locking me up again.

"I think I'll tell her to leave, she can come back tomorrow."

"Who is she?"

He hooks his finger in his belt, "Your daughter."

A twinge of pain twists my heart, "Is she okay?"

He has his mind on something else as he answers me, "I suppose, as okay as one teenager can be after finding out their mother is a wanted criminal killer... bitch."

"Jefferson..." I slowly approach him, "What did you tell to her?"

"The truth."

Suddenly he makes a move on me, pinning me against the wall, "You can go back where you belong now. I don't allow such behavior in my prisoners."

I don't struggle as he handcuffs me, I can't fight him, and I won't. I will wait my time. He turns my face to look at him, "You could have killed Sir Bennett, why didn't you? You've never hesitated to kill my men before."
