Erika's pov
On the way home, Jefferson and I are mostly silent as we ride the train. Since the system is upgraded, traveling takes quite short a time. From the center of the city to the outskirts of the north village where he lives, it takes only fifteen minutes. By means of other transportation, it might take an hour or two.
"You know," Jefferson whispers in my ear as he sits next to me, "If any Gyardican found out about this, I could be reported and I could lose my job."
"Oh," I smile.
He rolls his eyes and shakes his head, "of course, you wouldn't care would you?"
"Honey you're too serious, this has been a hectic night, it's almost a quarter to dawn. I think you need some of this." I hand him a flask of Spritzer with a cocky grin on my face.
"Trying to get me drunk eh? That's not smart."
"Why not? You too much of a good boy?" I bring the flask to my lips and sip some, it burns but I ignore it.
He sighs and snatches it from my hand, "Give it here then."
I watch him swallow it and look at me disapprovingly. I smile again, "there you are."
He drinks some more, I know he will be drunk by the time we're home, this stuff is extremely strong and it makes you wasted real quick. All the better for me.
Sure enough, we're home and he is quite out of his usual state of mind, "Did I just drink that whole thing?" He laughs and shakes the empty flask.
"Guess you did." I stand at the front door waiting for him to unlock it. "Have you got the key?"
He runs a hand through his hair, "I dunno, it's funny isn't it?"
I roll my eyes with a smirk, "Okay, you are really drunk."
"Sure am, I think the house got painted blue when I was gone? Is that right?"
"I don't remember you getting color blind when you're drunk."
I slip a pin out of my hair and pick the lock open.
"What what are you doing to my door?" he asks tipsily, "You're not scratching the paint off are you?"
I can't help but laugh at him as I kick the door open, "Oh just get inside will you?"
"Get inside?" he grins at me with a brow raised.
"The house Jefferson, the house." I don't bother switching the light on as I figure we won't be in need of it.
I shut the door and look at my husband, completely and utterly drunk. "how do you feel?" I ask.
He places a hand on the door frame to steady himself, "Uh great, just great."
I grin and kiss him, he smells strongly of the stuff he's been drinking. I feel a little stupid myself, from the tablespoon or two I had of the spritzer.
He unpins my cape, "You know it really wasn't a smart idea to get me like this."
I shrug, "This is only gonna happen tonight, so just let it go honey, after this, it can't say the same."
Red's pov
I lead the way through the thick forest with Luna and Christopher at my heels. My lungs feel tight as I know that they want to ask what happened. This has been the worst night I can remember in a long time. I glance back at their stone faces, "I'm sorry guys... I wish... It wasn't this way. It isn't your fault and you shouldn't have to deal with this."
