Jefferson's pov

I watch Erika as she walks through the trees. She seems to be mesmerized, moving as though she's in a trance. She has no idea how much I want to wrap my arms around her and kiss her. It's incredibly hard to control myself. She looks so happy. My heart aches for her, I want to just let her run off and do as she likes. She is like a wild animal that's been in a cage away from its home. Her spirit wants to be free.

She turns to look up at me, her green eyes are stunningly bright, the sunlight reflecting in them. Sometimes, I have to look away from them, her eyes are too brilliant.

"Where are Chris and Luna?" she asks.

"They'll be here in a few minutes probably, I told them where to come." I say, but to be honest, it'll be longer than a few minutes, I brought her out here early because I wanted to give her some time just to enjoy being outside. I also want some time alone with her. I savor every moment I have.

"Alright." she says, turning back to the trees, she looks up at the sky, which is a lavender color on our planet.

"How are you feeling today?" I ask.

She smiles and places a hand on her belly, "kids were busy last night, but I'm alright."

"really?" I grin and step close to her side.
"Can you feel them from the outside yet?"

She shakes her head, "Not really, they are still very tiny. However, I'm thinking there's one in particular that's kicking the other two constantly. Too much energy already."

I put my hand on top of hers, "Probably one of the boys. I feel bad for the girl. Having two brothers is gonna be tough."

"She will be tough."

I nod, "She will."

Her eyes squint in the light and she gazes into my eyes with a sweet intensity.

"Are you studying me?" I ask.

She blushes and turns her gaze to the ground, "No, I'm just taking advantage of this time when you're not angry at me or upset or something other than smiling."

I tilt my head, the ache in my heart increases, "Oh Erika, you know I hate it when there's stuff between us. I don't like being angry. I hope that is over. I still love you just the same as before, and I hope you feel the same way."

Her eyebrows tighten together, something is bothering her.

"What's the matter?" I ask.

She looks like she's inwardly struggling with herself. "It's just that... Jefferson, I don't know if it's over. You can't really trust me. We are still on different sides."

I stiffen, why did she have to bring this up? "See, that's why I want to quit being a Gyardican. That way, I don't have to be your enemy."

She lightly slaps my shoulder, "You're not quitting."

"So why do you think it's not over? It can be, you know, we can just forget about it right?"

Her eyes are not sweet anymore, "That is a foolish way to think, I love you more than anyone, you know that, but I have faith. I am not going to be in prison forever."

I can't help it, a defensive smirk clouds my face, "Erika... You have to face the truth at some point. You aren't leaving here."

She smiles again, "That's where you are wrong my dear husband. You shall see."

I shrug, not wishing to continue this pointless conversation, "Very well. I will not burst your hope. Believe as you like."

Suddenly Chris and Luna come along the side of the Guild among the trees.
