"Two pretty brunettes walk into a bar," Josh started but Hermione cut him off.

"Oh no, I've had enough with your horrible 'bar' jokes."

Josh pretended to be deeply hurt but his grin gave him away."Excuse you! ... but I meant that they literally just walked into Puzzles right now."

The three of them turned around to look at the two girls who had just sat at a table across from the counter.

"Aaaand... go! " said Tyler.

"Alright," Josh replied with excitement."The tall one's just been rock-climbing. She owns 36 pairs of socks and can't whistle."

Tyler grinned."Sounds about right"

"The other one is crazy about carrots," he went on," collects origami and stans The 1975".

Tyler's giggles were barely audible above Jenna's groan. "Don't you guys have anything better to do than stalk my customers?"

Tyler gasped in mock offense. "I beg your pardon! We are simply people-watching."
It was a fun habit the two of them had been practicing for a while. They liked to make up the most ridiculous stories about strangers they saw and laugh about them.

"Why don't you go somewhere else, then?" she challenged. "You're here practically every day, you should have "people-watched" (she made air quotes) everyone that comes in Puzzles by now."

[oh my, the nerve of this girl
she has no problem to specifically ask you to get lost
well, at least she's being honest]

She tried to use an annoyed tone but Tyler could see right through her. His insecurities tried to convince him otherwise, but deep down he knew that she was kidding and she genuinely liked them and enjoyed their company. He didn't know why he was so sure. After all, he should be more reserved, but something about those two girls seemed right. They seemed true like Josh.

"And where are we supposed to go?" Tyler asked with fake curiosity."This joint is the perfect place for us, men, you know, being a bar and all." He tried to sound serious but let out a small giggle by accident.

Josh laughed, adding "Plus, where else would we find this splendid tea, this exquisite delight?" with a dreamy expression.

Jenna smiled, pleased. "You look 14" she said to Tyler, sticking her tongue out and "Thank you, suck-up," turning to Josh.

"So what is actually the deal with them, anyway?" Josh eagerly asked looking at the girls.

"Come on, we are literally dying to know," Tyler chimed in with his most dramatic voice."You know, for...academic purposes," he rushed to add as soon as he saw Hermione's dismal expression.

Could she actually be...jealous? Did she have a crush on Josh or something?

Jenna scoffed."Academic purposes my ass."

"Ah, always so eloquent!" Tyler cried out.

They all laughed. It warmed Tyler's heart. It felt so nice to make someone -his friends- laugh. And, after all, wasn't that a reason to feel somewhat worthy? A reason to...live perhaps?

[they're laughing at you, you pathetic fool
mocking you
secretly wishing you were far away
leave them alone]

But no. They were laughing with him.

Jenna chose not to answer him. "Anyway, just so you two shut up and let me actually do my job...they both go to our school, they're in our grade, 'good girls'-"
