"Remembrance is a strange thing. With love its pain is bearable. With bitterness it simply destroys."
The next day, I felt new and hopeful.
I had made a big step.
It was great.
Today was also my gig at the Black Cherry. It couldn't get any better than this.
I walked into my mothers room at the hospital with a big smile.
She turns to me at the sound of the door opening.
"What's got you so happy, Annalina," she greets me.
"I did it. I auditioned last night." I say smiling.
"Im so proud of you, sweetie! I'm sure you'll make it!" She says encouragingly.
"I hope, mom. If I do, I know I will be what I've always wanted to be: a singer." I tell her softly.
"A damn bloody good one at that," she says with a chuckle.
I laugh along side with her.
"My gig at the Black Cherry is today, too."
"Wow. I wish I could be there," She says quietly, looking down at her hands.
I take them slowly in my own.
"In spirit you will be." I tell her with a smile."I love you, darling." She says tenderly.
"I love you too, mum."
I made my way into the club with a pretty black lace dress, loose curls, and a pair of converse on my feet.
I liked being comfortable.
