24.0: Losing

A man in his late twenties sat in front of one of the shop's computers, watching a live coverage of a game's match.

"Ooh, they're losing." His seatmate commented. "Too bad, Peenoise really do live up to their name."

He just ignored him. He was too focused on what's going on in the screen, and what the in-game announcer is narrating.

'Oh Techies is on the run. After a four for nothing. Will R1n live? Or will she come back and take the risk of suicide? Wait-she popped a land mine!! And AM landed exactly on it!! It's a four for one now!! And Techies will live-no.. what's she doin'? she's coming back!! 3 up by Radiant's ancient. She blinked!! She caught two down with her!! Now Magnus running for a safe spot, Dazz with 15 second cd on Grave. And he wi-another mine blows!! Guys do you see this!! Do you see what she did!! A four for four, the KS queen, doing her job-now she's the first one alive, 8 charges out from her Bloodstone. And she's tp'ing- right exactly where Dazzle is!! The latter just trying to kill the enemy mega creep, but the damage isn't enough!! And he's running!! 3 seconds for the Grave to cooldown. Will he survive?? Techies blinked!! Refreshes, pops a mine, and took suicide, taking down Dazzle with the explosion. Holy crap, is this real?? After a 4-man loss, the KS queen, securing the kill, and getting a rampage, all of them going down in just 20 seconds, what the heck is this gaaaaaaaaaame?!'

He looked at the guy beside him and grinned.

"You were saying?"

The crowd cheers are almost unbearable. Boxhead and her team are ahead by 5, and the enemy is slowly gaining ground. Somehow they were overturned by simple light magic by a single guy, while three defenders guard the enemy team valiantly. Somehow the captain of the enemy team is just down on one knee, doing nothing.

"What the heck is wrong with that enemy gal?" I asked myself aloud.

"Prep." Joichiro suddenly replied.

"For what?" tanong ko.

"Stories from the far city of Retus tells about a light-wielding guy and a girl whose powers are beyond imagination. They say she can change the landscape to suit her and her team's needs."

"Your customers must be half-assed brokers who gives information in exchange for food."

"Oh, once you taste my cooking, you will spill."

"That was not a very good pun." Tumingin ulit ako sa arena. "But seriously, Boxhead is not up for the game today."

"She's." he replied. "It's just looks like she isn't. The chaos in that arena is just an illusion she wanted the audience to see."

"Ah, you might be right about that."

Umilag na naman ako mula sa isang light spear mula kay Spectrum. He managed to hit all of my turrets and then tracking down Mole's landmines. For now, he's the only one on the offensive. The three defenders on their side just seems like they're fending for themselves, while si Mika naman ay nowhere to be seen. Dammit. What would happen if she joins the firefight?

I repositioned behind Sky and used Marksman's Eyes and Focus. The system automatically gave my eyes a scope-like mechanism and I lifted my left arm.

"Cr1ng, coat."

"Yes." Cr1ng left the shield to Sky at tumayo siya sa likod ko, on the ready.

I sighted the gap between the shielders (they're all physical) and aimed.

"Explosion Scope Shot." Exactly the same time I pulled the mental trigger, Cr1ng casted a spell of her own, coating the bullet with it. The projectile pass through our force field without friction. It went exactly where I aimed it to be; through the shielders' gap and then it exploded, bringing down the three defenders.

18-15. In favor of us.

Then the world around us changed. All became white, and before we all knew it, huge beams of light came and murdered all of us.

"Shit." Pr3sh groaned, coming right of revival.

"I didn't see that coming." I replied.

"What was this lay-out?" Sky asked, as the landscape change again to a lush forest

"This is probably the girl's doing." Cr1ng came up. "Remember when I told you she was a creature of mana?"

"Yep?"

"Well, she just need a specific amount of time to create a huge illusion world." R1n continued. "Shoot. Mika really took her time."

We all looked at the distant camp. Mika has become an all different creature. Her hair shot up in white light. Her eyes are the same, and her aura is all menacing. But worst of all, she's smiling.

"Hell, for the 32nd time I saw that smiling face, I still find it annoying." Tumawa ako ng mahina. "Let's get serious too."

"You don't need to say anything."
