In the midst of the chaos arising from the present exchange of blows and bullets is the band of the Holocaust; dispersed throughout the battlefield, but nevertheless fighting as one. Each efficient strike, each perfect dodge, each life-saving deflection are made such that, when viewed from the skies above, each of the seven magnets of destruction danced on almost hypnotic rhythm, like hurricanes on the earth's surface.
Shichio activated 'Recharge' after she used one of her Gladiate skills. She already dismissed the notion of fighting the Gaul as a support. About an hour ago she stood from her perch with knuckle gears in hand, energy pack embedded in her back, and a resolute decision concerning her guild below her. She abolished all doubts from her mind and jumped to where the battle is, crushing those who happened to be on her landing point.
"Oi, oi, I got Brawl skills, why not used them?" She asked no one in particular as she activated Barrage on an incoming group of enemies.
"Good choice, Chio." Chiro chirped through the comm. "Now I can log-out in peace."
"Whaaaaaaaat?" She groaned, deflecting a rod attack with her left arm while swinging her right towards a second attacker. "Oi, Chi---"
But her pop-up notif told her something she already know but she hated to acknowledge; hers is a family of trolls. "Aii, he's useless anyway."
"Oi, panu na's Pedro!?" Sir Gwen asked in a soothing manner accompanied with the cries of her and her mace' victims.
"Iz ok, sir. I can activate it with a press of a button." Chio griped, breaking the neck of a hostage, then using the dead body to block incoming arrows, bullets, and magefires. "All we need to do is to lure them in. Not all of them, mind you."
"Aye, sounds like a good plan." Calm commented, his blades ringing through the comms, an evidence if chilling precision dancing through flesh and bones. "The first sane plan, to be exact."
"Heh, you sure?" Shichio grinned, ducking below a sword stroke and countering a short-ranged bowmaster. "Ko en kikaishi."
The mobs of Gaul gave chase to the seven retreating figures, the latter defending themselves as they inched their way back to the Yggdrasil. For the attacking side, it felt as if victory is almost upon them, as if their enemies exhausted themselves and chose to defend than to counter. It felt, for the members of the largest Guild in DRAGON, that they got their mouse cornered.
Unfortunately for them, the members of the Holocaust have another idea.
The Yggdrasil shuddered due to an force unbeknownst by the Gaul, the colossal tree getting coated in a thin layer of almost invisible force magic. The advancing force paid little heed to this development and continued their charge, only to find out that both their weapons and magic could not penetrate the force barrier.
The enemy was so close, yet they can't reach them.
Zhang ordered his arch wizards and free bards to break the force barrier. As the chants and castings of these powerful men started, the shouts and jeers of victory grew louder and louder among the Gaul ranks, knowing that, when this barrier breaks, the win they sought after will finally be theirs.
Only to find themselves drenched in scalding oil and drowning in chilling disappointment as the leader of the Holocaust pressed a goddarn button, letting the already boiling oil slide down, the force barrier a perfect angle to targeting the gathering enemies.
"Now!!"
Calm, with the help of Cuishel's Boulder and Ryd's Wheeler, slashed through the enemy ranks with a strong penetrative skill Fire Wing improved with the passive ability Hellsing. Screams of pain tore through the air as those who were caught in the sword stroke suffered from burns by inexhaustible flames.
"Amaterasu ang peg, dre?" Shichio asked. She was taking advantage of the commotion by shooting stragglers with low fire resistance. The victims either died of the fire eating them slowly or of Shichio's rampaging bullets. With this the fight turned largely to the Holocaust's favor.
Ryd and Cuishel, pumped with mana and energy from Liam and Rin, tore through the slippery throng of the frontline, wreaking havoc unto those that happen to be in their paths. The numbers dwindled slowly but surely, until those with enough resistance and hitpoints survived.
Including Zhang. His eyes bore through Shichio's back, which made the latter look back at him. The princess of the Holocaust felt shivers down her spine as Zhang's aura changed, and those that are left of his guild dropped one by one.
Ryd, seeing a chance to attack the enemy leader, dashed towards Zhang.
"Don't!!" Shichio screamed at the biker.
Only her warning was left to futility, for at that split-second, Ryd's head was shaved off his body with only an arm stroke from the Gaul guild master.
All of Holocaust's members present were rooted at their spots, trying to take in what just happened, but mostly blaming Ryd in their minds.
Shichio, though, her eyes widened, her fist clenched and unclenched, and her breathing labored slightly.
When was the last time you had a fight like this?
"Attack!!" She cried till her throat rasped, leading the charge against the solitary but powerful enemy.
For an outsider, this might look like an attack filled with despair, of hopelessness and of absolute defeat. However, there is none of them who bore eyes of the said emotions. To explain it in the most blunt way possible, their eyes only held one solitary emotion.
Excitement.
One of the legendary Drastic Rage Skills has appeared.
