"Hora!! A little to the left!!"
"Muuh!! Mendokusai!!"
"Your fault, Mika. Now, LEFT!!"
Mika propped her hands to the front again, for a hundredth time now. "Peculiar Landscape!"
The ten-meter diameter rock heaved itself slowly, taking its anchor high above the ground, and little by little it moved towards the direction Mika wanted.
"Okay stop."
"Huuuh. Force magic is taxing." Mika said as she grabbed a mana pack and started to drink it.
"It is." Shichio started drilling holes into the rock and inserting metal slips into them. "Concentration is key, as well as creative imagery. Creativity, you got right, but concentration? Nah."
"Hidoii!!"
"Come on Mika, you sound like Joichiro." She typed some programs on a virtual screen. Slowly the rock vibrated. "Magic and technology has the same prerequisite: focus. You let slip a small detail, and a simple summoning circle becomes a demon lord call, or a little radium reactor becomes the next Little Boy."
Cracks spread on the rock surface, each becoming wider and longer in every second the rock vibrates. Surprisingly, there are some spots on the rocks where the cracks obviously try to avoid, as if they are commanded to do so. And then, in just a second--
"See this? This is the product of concentration." Shichio tapped the intricate design of the now completely different artifact. "Skil-san was right when he said AU material could create such things as energy focus 'gates'. Yay, hello Virtual Prize for Technology!!"
"Eeh, this is a simple rock gate and archway. What's so special about this?"
Shichio look at her with amused eyes, then raised her wrist to her face. "Subject Beta ready."
"Yokai-desu. Commencing test on Alpha." Sander couldn't stop the excitement seeping out of his voice. "Code checked and ready. Your call, Chio."
"And aren't you excited?" the Holocaust leader laughed as she put her arm down and beckoned Mika to come nearer. "What's this piece of rock gonna do? Hmm, I wonder."
