Harry
Harry Potter was extremely befuddled, he couldn't remember what had happened or what was going on. He couldn't, for the life of him, fathom the mystery of why he was tied down. Or why he had moments where he couldn't remember certain periods of time.
"Hey, er-" Harry rubbed his forehead, trying to remember the name of his healer, "oh, yeah...Shane? Why am I tied down?"
Shane looked up from his paper work, "because you go crazy when people say your name," he answered kindly.
"But...how can I ever live my life normally again?"
"We're working on finding a cure for you," Shane said gently, "we'll get you better."
Harry frowned but resumed knotting the length of string he had been allotted. He twisted and untwisted, intertwined and unwound, knotted and unknotted. He created a fish hook, then a bow, then a noose and finally a small net.
Harry still wanted to see Ginny but he had not been allowed, he wanted to see Ron and Hermione but they thought it might set him off again.
He was confused, everything was a hazy blur and a mess of colours, a jumble of words. Nothing made sense, everything went in one ear and out the other.
Ginny
Draco ran his thin fingers along the spine of a small pocket book, his grey eyes were alight with delight. "Here it is," he said in a hushed tone, "it's got the answers we need."
Ginny took an involuntary step back, she had always been wary around books that carried instruction ever since her first year when Tom Riddle's diary possessed her.
"G-great," Ginny stammered, trying to stop her voice shaking. "Shouldn't you be careful? You know, just in case your dad recorded memories in here. I don't fancy being possessed again, to be perfectly honest."
Draco turned to face her for the first time, "don't worry," he said softly, "I wont let anything bad happen to you, I promise."
Ginny felt a small warmth of relief but she still felt cold with fear, something wasn't right...the book seemed too wrong, too normal. "Draco, please," Ginny heard her voice crack, "just be careful, please."
Draco rose slowly to his feet, he looked Ginny straight in the eyes and said, "it's going to be OK, I know my dad, I know he wouldn't do something like record his memories the way Riddle did."
"It just doesn't seem right..." Ginny mumbled, "there's something wrong."
Draco took a step towards Ginny, "I know that you're scared, I don't blame you, but we have to do this to help Harry. C'mere." He held open his arms and enfolded Ginny into them, "I wont let anything hurt you, I promise."
"OK," Ginny finally agreed, they broke apart and headed back to the spare room.
After an hour of searching, Draco rubbed his eyes and told Ginny he was going to make some tea. He left. Ginny glanced warily at the book, she didn't trust it, there was something off about it, she didn't want to be left alone with it. Sort of how Hermione had felt about Cormac McLaggen. Ginny edged closer to the book, it was lying on the desk looking perfectly docile, it didn't look so dangerous.
Then, it all happened very quickly.
The book opened on the middle page. It began to shine golden light from the middle. Ginny tried to scream but no sound escaped. She tried to run but was rooted to the spot. Ginny Weasley was sucked into the book.
Ginny hit solid ground, everything was dim and slow. She scrambled to her feet, looking desperately around for a friendly face, someone she could ask a question. Then she saw a group of people lead by Harry!
"Harry!" Ginny cried in relief, running towards him. "Oh, Harry! I'm so glad you're here! What's going on?"
But Harry continued to speak to the group as if he had not heard her. Harry said in a low voice, "if you spot anything, anything that could be dangerous, or see any Death Eaters, I want you to get out of here immediately."
Ginny felt a hand on her shoulder, she looked into the eyes of a younger Lucius Malfoy. She screamed.
Draco
Ginny was not in the room. The book was opened on precisely the middle page, smoking slightly. Draco dropped the mugs of tea to the ground, he rushed forwards to the book and began examining it.
There was a knock at the door. Draco straightened up and raised his wand, he crept down the hallway and opened the front door. There stood Hermione.
"H-hi," Draco stammered, mentally cursing himself for sounding so nervous.
"I'm looking for Ginny," Hermione said coldly, "she left a note saying she was here."
"Er- about that..." Draco rubbed his nose nervously, unsure of how to tell Hermione that Ginny had been sucked into a book. He stepped aside and gestured for the woman to enter, which she did. "Look, Ginny and I were searching for a cure for Harry when she got sucked into my father's book."
Hermione narrowed her eyes, "what are you talking about, Malfoy?" She demanded harshly.
Draco noted the use of his last name as a cold gesture, "I thought I might have something that could cure Harry in my father's notebook but when I came back Ginny was gone and the book was smouldering."
Those narrowed brown eyes widened in panic, "we have to get her back!" Cried Hermione, "we can't repeat what happened in the chamber years ago!"
Draco immediately felt bad as he watched Hermione fly into a panic, "calm down, she'll be OK. We can get her out, it'll be written somewhere in the book."
"Why are we wasting time chatting?" Hermione exclaimed, her bushy hair flying out behind her as she set off at a run along the hallway, "lets get her back!"
Hermione
Hours they searched, all for nothing. They still hadn't found a reversal spell, she had even tried a revealing spell. Nothing. Hermione rubbed her tired eyes, she yawned and scanned the book for what felt like the hundredth time, there was nothing written about-wait!
"Draco!" Hermione exclaimed, elated, "Draco, I've found it! Oh, yes, this is brilliant! Simply brilliant, how clever!"
Draco raised his blonde head off the desk, "you found it? How?"
"It was subtext," Hermione explained, "it didn't refer explicitly to the spell, however, the spell put on the book was a charm. The spell that can be used to reverse all charms is finite incantatem! We use that spell to reverse the-"
And Hermione Granger was sucked into the book, leaving the rest of her sentence dangling in the air.
She couldn't breathe, everything was a mess of colours and a jumble of noises. Then it was as if someone had turned on the lights. Tortured screams were emitting from the walls that surrounded her, Hermione set off at a run because those screams belonged to Ginny, she just knew it. She ran through the dimly lit passageway, her footsteps clattered loudly but she didn't care - all she wanted was to get to Ginny.
"HELP!" Ginny screamed, "SOMEONE! PLEASE!" The worst scream yet sounded, it seemed to rattle the walls and send dust falling down from the ceiling.
"Ginny!" Hermione yelled back, she did not care that someone might hear her, she wanted them to know that she was coming. Perhaps the girl who had helped defeat Voldemort would be enough to make them worry. Hermione flung open the door to a room and she found Ginny suspended in mid air, the life seemingly pouring from her and into the air.
