It was around nine at night in July. Kylee was grateful the warm weather was back, that meant no more hiding indoors, walking to work, go sunning in the park, and just enjoying the suns warmth. It always amazed her for some reason that the sun could look so pretty against her skin and how it lit everything up and made it glow. Even though she found the sunlight amazing, Kylee had always loved the summer moon more than any other element of the earth. She loved how it sparkled and inspired so many people to do beautiful things. Illuminating the ground with a pale light that made everything just seem to reveal its own magic.

Tonight her and Raph were bumming it on the couch and watching one of her favorite movies, DragonHeart. Raph said it was corny, Kylee told him to shove it. Raph said it was predictable, Kylee said shut up. Raph complained that they could watch better, Kylee told him to get bent. Raph said the monk was annoying, and Kylee laughed in agreement. Raph could have fallen asleep on the couch. He’d had a long day with Erin, teaching her fighting and dodging techniques. “Ya tired big guy?” Kylee leaned back and pulled her knee closer to her. Her hair was loose and it fell around her, apparently she’d grown in out a little bit, as it flowed down to her lower back. Raph smiled and nodded. “Yeah, Erin and I were busy taday, kid keeps ya busy.”

“I bet, she sure is fiery” Kylee chuckled, thinking of Raph playing daddy with his niece and trying to teach her what he could. Even if he didn’t like kids, Raph did have his exceptions…he wouldn’t make the best dad in the world by far but he’d still be a pretty good dad in Kylee’s mind. “You wanna bum on my bed for a while? I’ll wake ya up when I need to sleep.” She offered, pointing her thumb to the back room.

“Na, I’m okay. If I wanna sleep, I’m headin’ back ova ta my place.” Raph said and Kylee rolled her eyes, “Now who’s bein’ stubborn about sleep?”

“What?”

“Never mind.”

“Do you really like this movie? Or are you just tryin’ ta torture me?”

“Dude, man up. I love this movie, my mom and I used to watch this together all the time…though…I guess you’re more of a The ghost and The Darkness type a guy huh?”

“The what and the who?”

“The Ghost and the Darkness. Dude it’s an awesome movie! Man eating lions, the hunt, blood, bone yard, it’s actually based of a true life story!-its screams you.”

“Then why the hell are we watching this crud!?! Put it in!”

“Okay, Okay Mr. pushy shell.”

Kylee got off the couch and put a DVD in the player, then sat even closer to Raph and played it. This was more like it! A nerd bucking up and taking responsibility, fighting, a bigger more respected guy showing him how it’s done! Why hadn’t she put this in in the first place? The two main guys had finally found the lion’s den, lit the lamps and went inside. The lair was the perfect hid out. It was deep, it had a water source and in was hidden. Kylee scooted closer to Raph, knowing this movie. Then it came up. The dudes found the main room. And it was filled with human skeletons! You couldn’t take a step in some places without stepping on a couple. “Lions…lions don’t do this-they’re doing it for the pleasure.” The lead guy said, looking at the cave in horror. This was awesome. Kylee was gripping his shell tightly and tucking herself into his side so Raph paused the movie. “What’s up kid?”

“those lions truly were evil.”

“Aw c’mon. Their just dumb animals that got a taste for blood right?”

“Raph, like he said, they were doing it for pleasure. What dumb hungry beast would collect the bodies of their prey?”

“I guess you gotta point…what? You ain’t scared of ‘um are ya?”
