“Hey doc, you okay? You’ve looked really…somber as of late” Cain asked, walking into Kylee’s office and breaking her train of thought. She looked up at him, her eyes seeming glazed over with thought. He hadn’t bothered her about dating since that day; he just went back to normal and talked happily to her and everyone else. Kylee chuckled softly, “Yeah, I’m fine. Thank you for your concern though.”
“You wanna talk about it?”
“Not really, it’s just some old issues with an ex.” Kylee said, straitening up her desk absentmindedly. Cain tilted his head in confusion, “An old boyfriend giving you trouble? It’s that guy you were talking about a couple weeks ago isn’t it?”
“Yeah but I’ll figure something out…”
“If he’s bothering you, I could tell him to back off if you like. If need be I’ll take ‘im out” Cain joked, making Kylee burst into laughter. She could just imagine it. Cain, the small human vs. Raph, the giant muscled turtle. It would be quite a party, and there would probably be blood. Cain laughed with her, not knowing what he’d asked to sign up for, thinking the guy she dated couldn’t be that tough, right?
“No, that’s fine Cain, thank you. Raphs a good guy I think I can settle my issues with him and I wouldn’t want a little guy like you ta get hurt.”
“Little guy? What? Is he that much bigger?”
“Yeah, Raphs pretty chiseled out. You wouldn’t stand a chance if you two got into a fight.”
“Oh….well still, he’s he’s bothering you I hope you’d come to me for help.”
Kylee smiled at Cain. He was so kind and fun to be around, he reminded her a little of Hawkins, though he wasn’t as cool or coordinated as him. Cain was always tripping up and making fun of himself, cleaning up what he spilled over. She looked into his eyes. They were always like this, kind and concerned for everyone around him. They echoed his thoughts in pearl gray pools. What his eyes said now is that he’d always be around to help her and hold her up if she needed him.
“Hey Cain, do you want ta go to lunch? I’m really hungry and with this bum leg I don’t really trust walking alone. Ya never know who’s gonna take advantage a that”
“Sure, I could go for some lunch.” Cain blushed, pushing his hair out of his face. Kylee laughed at him and they walked (hobbled) out

Raph heard cries from Dons place down the tunnel, waking him from his nap. He groaned, sitting up stiffly. He rubbed the sleep off the side of his face and listened more closely. He heard Donny crying out and paniced. Damn! It betta not be them, if they even touch my bro! Raph thought as he ran down the tunnels to Dons place. Just as the years hadn’t been kind to Kylee , neither had they been to Raph and now all he wanted to do was protect his family! “Yo Donny! You okay?!” He called from the door way.
He looked at his little brother. Don was standing in the middle of the room, looking this way and that. He wasn’t bloody or beaten…well a little beaten but at least not bloody.
“Yeah, just a little training and getting my butt kicked…man I’m outta shape”
“You know it egg head!” Kylee’s voice echoed from the entire room Raph looked around and fell to the floor with force. Kylee looked down at him uncaringly. “Opps wrong turtle” she said jumping off him. Donny massaged his temples and shook his head, knowing she’d aimed for Raph. Raph groaned, picking himself up. “Yeah, wrong turtle ya nutcase.” He said calmly, brushing himself off. Kylee walked over to Don and leaned on him looking at Raph and wondering why he wasn’t flipping out like usual, she looked into his eyes now, Angry, brooding, usually unfeeling. Raph may have had a fiery passion, but it wasn’t in his eyes all the time. His eyes, the amber orbs that drew her in so long ago, were waiting. But for what? “See ya round Don. Bye kid.” Raph said, leaving. He knew Kylee may not want to see him right now, seeing as.
