Chapter 31: Trust?

"It's Adriana"

I started shaking. I looked around to see if she was nearby but there were so many people in crowds that it was impossible to tell. Why is she calling me? How did she get my number?

"I'm not here to threaten you..." She paused "I just want to warn you"

"But isn't that the same-"

"I want to warn you about what Amber is going to do" She said.

"Why should I trust you?" I asked.

"Please... Trust me" I heard sadness in her voice "Amber isn't here right now so I'll tell you in the time I can. I was doing research and... I'm so sorry"

It took me some time to understand what she was trying to tell me. When I understood I still didn't have the proper words to ask.

"Put the fault on whoever you want but when I was younger, Amber was over at my house and I'm still not entirely sure what I did but she changed something in our parents car and that led to... The crash" She explained.

I wanted to roll up into a ball and just cry. It wasn't an accident? It was on purpose.

I stayed silent and she continued "I don't want to be her best friend anymore but she's threatening me, she'll kill Sean if I leave and he's important to me, not just me but many others"

Her words started to sink in "What is she going to do?" I asked.

"I'm not entirely sure but... Just get the message out" She took a very long pause "Nobody is safe, and you need to get the message out but keep it secret at the same time"

"But how?" I asked. Nobody is safe... Anybody could die, the world could be destroyed...

"Don't put the message through YouTube, not any sort of social media" she continued "Since I'm like a hacker, if it's over just texting then Amber won't know, real life conversations could work as well"

I nodded but clearly Adriana wouldn't know.

"Only tell people you can trust"

"Okay, and thank you..." I said, though I didn't trust her completely.

"Anyways, I should go and please, don't tell Amber about this unless you want us both to be dead" She said and then hung up.

I took another moment to think about her words. "Y/N!" I heard and turned around. "There you are" Tessa said with a smile.

"Don't worry, I didn't go too far"

"Come on, we're going to the Sky Blaster!" She said as she took my hand and guided me through the people. I looked up towards the Sky Blaster, it's impossible to not see it because it's the biggest ride here.

"There you are" Patty said brushing her fingers through her hair. "Where were you?" She asked.

"Oh, it's nothing" I said as we got in line for the tall ride. We waited for a couple minutes until we got to the front.

"Are you ready?" The man taking the tickets asked.

"Not at all... Is it safe for someone with heights to go on this?" Patty said.

"You'll live" He said and then whispered something under his breath "probably"

We boarded the ride and waited for others to get on. It started at it felt like my life was flashing before me. I glanced at Patty and she was basically crying. I looked at Tessa and... Yeah I don't think she was handling it too well because she squinted her eyes shit.

"And down we go!!!" The voice in the machine said before we were plummeting to our deaths.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" Everyone shouted as we went towards the ground.

We got off and decided we'd just go to the mall because that was... Terrifying. The mall wasn't very interesting, we bought some food and what not. Then we headed to my house.

"Y/N!!!" Mark and Sean shouted as they ran up to me in a hug.

"I'm alive... Terrified but alive" I said thinking back to the Sky Blaster.

Tessa and Patty gave me a smirk as Mark and Sean unwrapped their arms around me. "We can leave-"

"Don't get your ideas, we were just worried" Mark said.

The two walked into the house and just fell onto the couch.

"Today was awesome!" Tessa said as she reached for the TV remote. She turned on the tv and flipped through the channels.

Meanwhile I put my bags in my room and then headed back to where the crowd is.

"Y/N... What was the actual reason you left for a bit?" Tessa asked as I walked back into the room.

"Just had to go to the bathroom..." I lied.

"I know you're lying" she said plainly.

"Damn you, friendship" I said. "I uh... Thought I saw Mark and Jack"

Mark and Jack looked at me and furrowed their eyebrows. "And?"

"It was just my imagination. It was a wall painted green and red" I said.

"You were gone for 5 minutes or so, you couldn't have stared at the wall for that long" Patty said.

"It was... Adriana"

I heard gasps from all around me.

"Are you a traitor?!?!" Sean said dramatically.

I stared at him and shook my head "No, she was just warning me"

"Threatening you?" Tessa said.

"I don't know if I should trust her or not but she told me that Amber basically sabotaged their parents car... Which led to my parents death" I paused "She basically told me that she doesn't want to fight but Amber thinks otherwise" I paused again "She said nobody is safe"

The group stayed silent and then stayed their opinions.

"I don't trust them"

"I trust them"

I thought for a moment.
