We walked down yet another hallway until we got to yet another set of stairs. I swear this house is like a maze! I'm surprised no one has discovered it yet beside the assassins. Just imagine going out on a lunchtime stroll and seeing this great building standing in a clearing, you'd have the shock of your life. I'm really worried about this test! What is I fail, everyone else seems to have a skill and then I'd just be the average nobody. Positive attitude Rae! You can do this! Anyway, how hard can it be?!
Answer: VERY HARD!
Once we finally got out of the building, I followed the girls over to a large field which led to the woods. On an old tatty sign next to the gravel path we were walking down said this place was called the training grounds. More like torture grounds no doubt. The harmless gym equipment in on corner of the field you could see had been rigged with resistance wires and springs making the work done on them twice as hard. I'm starting to wonder if this is more of a boot camp sort of thing. Some guys were working out on the machines, making it look like a piece of cake. One man even lifted almost all of the weights on the Dumbbells. As you could guess, Josie was practically drooling at the sight. She looked like if she got the chance she would either set a camera there recording the whole day or grab a sun bed and just watch as though they were a TV for equally as long. Also, there was a sparring ring which seemed to attract a lot of attention. There were the usual cheerleaders there and even India admitted that it was drool-worthy.
On the other side of the field students seemed to be doing all sorts of target practise. These people weren't as muscly as the gym guys but that was all in proportion. The boys could easily pass as rugby players! As for the targets, they were placed at all distances away from the line. The targets a couple of meters away had younger children practising on them and the other targets that were hidden by trees were practically impossible to see, let alone hit! Next to the line there was a stack of weapons. There were darts to bow and arrows to knives, even some guns. All the students were just casually throwing things too, almost everyone was at least hitting the target.
All around the edge was a running track which I was guessing was about a mile all the way around. Standing in the centre was a man, about in his 40's, shouting instructions to everyone. It was things like 'you think you call that running, I've seen daisys grow faster' and 'you'd be dead before you even got to do anything', this was a harsh place! Lilly dragged me over, again, to the man in the centre leading the way. When we got there she tapped the man on the back and shoved me forward."Hi Mr Andrew, this is our new dorm member and assassin Rae. Mrs Hali in the office said to take her to you to give her a full assessment to try and find her skill." Stated Lilly confidently.
"Righty 'o then. So your the new rogue here to try and prove her stuff. Well little lady, I can tell you now that this ain't going to be easy" Mr Andrew told me.
"When has it ever been easy?! What do I have to do then?" I asked.
"Ha ha, well Miss Rae, you will have to do a number of things which is all timed and judged by the teachers here. You will have to do a running session - with your supernatural and in human form, some combat - with or without weapons, some target practise using a range of equipment and finally an obstacle course that I myself created." He answered.
"The current champion for the obstacle course is Peter and no one has ever beaten it since. I couldn't even finish, I got right near the end and couldn't do the last bit" whispered India quietly.
"Ok then, that sounds like a challenge. When do we start?" was my reply.
"Right now if you want." Answered Mr Andrew, "You can start with the running and combat today, then tomorrow can be targets and obstacle. You ready?"
"Yes"
"Right, first you will do 5 laps of this track in human form and then you will do 12 laps in your creature as fast as you can. Your friends can go and sit on that bench over there. What supernatural are you so that I can give you something to help prevent you from using your strength and speed at the beginning?" He asked.
"Werewolf sir" and then he strapped a silver band to my wrist. I could feel my wolf start to fade.
"Good luck Rae" shouted my friends.
^Good luck Rae^
^thanks Luna^ was all we managed.
"Are you ready to start then? As soon as you have done 5 laps then just fling the bracelet off and shift, OK?" Mr Lui confirmed.
"Ok - to both."
"Ready...Steady...GO!" He shouted as the lights turned green.
