*Rae's POV*

I sat up in bed and looked around.
"Phew! I'm still at the academy.!" Last night i had a dream about my parents again. This time we were all sitting down to have diner and then two pairs of yellow eyes appeared in the window. Mum told me to go upstairs and hide and as soon as I was out of sight two big bulky men slammed the door open. There was a bit of talking and then everything went quiet. I tiptoed downstairs and that was where the dream ended. I was now covered in sweat and panting, these dreams have been happening more and more often since I did the last two tests a few days ago. With that thought I realised that today was the day of the obstacle course. I would finally get my skill along with all the other newbies who had joined. No more calling me weak or pathetic, no more sitting in the side lines watching the classes i was supposed to be in. That is if I pass well enough. I swung my legs out of bed and accidentally knocked of the lamp which had been put on the floor.
"Stupid lamp, why was it on the floor anyway. Now I'm definitely not in the mood to do anything but lie in bed all day!" Recently I had been much more grumpy than usual and it wasn't even my time of the month! Maybe I need more sleep? Oh well, I just hope it gets better soon before I fall out even more with my friends. Yesterday after maths I picked up India's books and didn't realised but then when I did notice I threw them against the wall and made a crack in it. Mood swings much!
So I got fully out of bed and did my morning routine. Put on an outfit, although I wasn't quiet sure what to wear as none of the teachers or my friends would tell me anything about the test. I decided on some neon shorts, a pink long sleeved top with New York on it and some blue with purple trainers. I put my hair into a messy bun and put some basic make up on. I went downstairs and found the kitchen empty.
"I wonder where everyone is?" I wondered. "Must still all be asleep" I grabbed an apple and a jacket and skipped out of our dorm, making sure to leave a note on the table top. Thanks to my amazing memory I already knew where the test would be despite only being here for a few days. We all got sent an email - it was in the woods by the main base.
I walked out of the rooms and down the corridor. This place already felt like my first home since mum and dad died.
I left the main building and carried on towards the woods. In a couple of days there was a house competition so I wanted to be qualified as soon as possible. Only down side was that Callum was in the neighbouring house and was yet to do his final training. I beg you he's in my group for the obstacle course!
I soon arrived in the woods and there already was a group of people standing around. All the super eager ones had brought bottles of water, note pads and pens but in comparison, the cocky jerks didn't have anything. And what a surprise I was right, Callum was right in the middle of them all with a brown haired girl hanging off his arm. I very much doubt she will be able to do this course if my friends found it hard.
We were all chatting except me, never really was the social type even before the accident. A guy stepped up onto a stage at the front which I hadn't noticed earlier.
"Hello people. Today we are here to see what your made of! The course has been upgraded since last time and is now even harder. Anyone who doesn't think they can do it can go and join the training program." Shouted a tall strong looking man. With his last comment a couple of girls and weak looking boys left to begin the program of shame. If I had the choice I would still have gone for it, trouble is if I don't complete it I am tossed out as a rogue again. The head told me that two days ago. This challenge is literally a life or death situation in which that Callum definitely doesn't help!
"Right then, are you ready to run, jump and crawl?!" The man cairns on shouting.
"Yessss!" Screamed everyone else. I failed to notice that Callum had walked up to me as I was listen to the man on the stage.
"Oi Sun or something!" I finally realised he was standing right there. I just ignored him though.
"Hey, you know I'm here! I bet your not even going to make it over the first bit" Callum carried on taunting as I continued to ignore him.
"Pathetic bitch" he muttered and with that I snapped
"Listen here Callum, just because your strong doesn't mean you have to flaunt it. Your scrawny little ass couldn't even get over the first hurdle so stop pretending your the king and shut the fudge up!"
"Wow mate, that's fiery!" Said one of his buddies as he stood there staring at me. We continued our match until the teacher interrupted us,
"Since you two think it's alright to fight while I'm talking I think that you can go next. What's your names?"
"Rae"
"Callum" we answered.
"Well Rae you can go first. Good luck" he said.
I walked off, the jerks snickering, muttering something along the lines of "stupid teacher, I bet he couldn't even get his lazy but off that stage." I walked forwards until I got to a yellow spray painted line on the floor signalling the start.
"3...2...1!" Shouted the automatic timer.
