I woke up face down on the pavement. Had I tripped? Had someone attacked me?

I heard someone's voice in the background, mumbling. I concentrated hard on the voice in case I had been kidnapped and who ever it was wanted to kill me so I must stay still.

Much to my relief, someone leant down beside me and shook my shoulder. "Please be okay."

It was Jordan!

He stood up again and talked into what I can only guess was his phone.

"No. She's completely unconscious. I dont know, she just sort of.. collapsed and she's been out cold for at least an hour. No she's not my sister, she's my best friend. 14, we both are. We're in Partridge Lane. Ok. Thank you."

He ended the call and sat beside me, his hand on my back.

"Ambulance is coming Alexs." He gulped. "Hang on."

My head was hurting and my palms were dripping with sweat. I couldnt breathe properly and I felt like I was going to die.

There was light out the corner of my left eye and I knew it was either a house light or Jordan's phone. I couldnt decide. Then, something surged through my stomach and I bolted up into kneeling position case I was sick because if I layed flat on my stomach and was sick it would go all over me.

"Alexs!" Jordan yelled, his voice filled with joy.

I groaned, curled up into a ball and leant forward.

"No Alexs, sit up." Jordan tried to move me but his voice was fading out of earshot.

"Can't..black..fade.." I mumbled.

Jordan was yelling now, but it sounded just above a whisper. I could feel him touching me but it felt like he was barely brushing his fingers along my spine, when in actual fact im guessing he was using all his strength.

Then it stopped. I couldnt feel, hear or see him at all. I sat up; or at least I think I did. This is all some crazy dream, I thought. Right now im asleep in Jordan's room.

I looked around and all I could see was endless black, stretching out for miles and miles. There was no sound, just a terrifyingly eerie silence. Nothing to see or touch or smell, nothing to give me any clue of where the hell I was. It was like being trapped in a box with no light or air.

I checked myself.

I still had my hair, my eyebrows, my eyes and my nose and mouth and chin. My neck was still here. As was my torso and arms and legs and feet and all ten toes. I was all in one piece.

So why was I here? I sat down, folding my hands in my lap and counted the seconds to make sure my heart didn't pound it's way right out of my chest.

I had reached 9,148 seconds before the blackness around me started to form into pictures. My face was turned up towards a silver ceiling and my back was pressed against something cold and hard. I had some kind of mask over my face and my arms were held in place by black velcro. A tiny sound danced at the edge of my hearing, and it was getting louder by the second. Sirens, and many voices. I wanted to put my hands over my ears and whimper but I couldnt move. I focused on picking out Jordan's voice, and sure enough he was there.

"Is she going to be ok?"

"Im not sure yet son. What even happened?"

"I dont know! We were walking and talking and she just fell."

I had something pressed against my forehead and I could smell the thick, coppery smell of blood. I wanted to drink it.

"Where were you walking?"

"I was walking her home so she could pick up some stuff like clothes because shes sleeping over at mine tonight."

"I see."

My eyes were just tiny slits because the light beaming down on my face was incredibly bright.

"Nnuuaagh." I groaned.

"She's awake! Ha! Yes!" Jordan fist pumped the air and stood beside me.

"Alexs, you're in an ambulance. We're going to hospital. You're going to be okay."
