I rubbed my face, and stroked Fang with my other hand. "I hope that made you feel better." I grumbled.
"Go to your room you contrary little whatsit!" Mother hissed, pointing a bony finger out of the front room.
"No. I want to go out." I said, standing up. Fang gave a meow of surprise and leapt off my stomach.
I squeezed past my parents and grabbed my Batman hoodie from the bottom of the stairs, throwing it on and ran out the front doors before anyone could object.
Fang followed behind, his furry tail waggling around as he pranced around the empty road. I had been walking for a good twenty minutes by now, and my feet were starting to hurt and I needed the toilet.
"Hey! Alexs!" Someone yelled from my right.
I screwed my eyes up tight and sped up. I was really hoping it wasnt Charlotte. She was a girl in my year at school, and frequently liked to make my life a living hell.
"STOP!"
I gasped and started sprinting, picking Fang up by the scruff of his neck and hugging him tight. I heard the footsteps behind me getting faster.
Suddenly, someone grabbed my hood and I kicked out backwards, my boots making contact with a kneecap.
"Ow, fuck!" The voice said. "You're nuts you are."
I turned around and saw my friend Jordan swearing profusely.
Jordan was my best friend. Well, one of them. I had 3. Jordan was taller than me (but then again everyone is taller than me, im only 5'1) and he had jet black hair that swept across his very pale face and beautiful green eyes. He looked like a china doll and I was always afraid if I hugged him too hard he'd shatter.
"Sorry, I thought you were Charlotte or someone trying to kill me."
"Charlotte doesnt live around here."
"I know, I just thought.."
"Why are you out here anyway?"
"Mum an..."
"Did they hurt you?"
His questions came fast and ontop of eachother, I didnt have time to separate them and work out which one I should answer first. So I threw myself on the floor and put my hands over my ears and closed my eyes and made the whimpering noise that I always do when im angry or confused. Fang patted at my face with his paw.
I felt Jordan lay his hand on my shoulder.
"Im sorry Alexs, I didnt mean to confuse you. I'll ask the last few a bit slower. Why are you out here?"
I stopped moaning and took a few gulps of air, my hands off my ears and stood up.
"Dad said I was bad and needed to be punished so I kicked him then I got a lecture."
"Ok. Did they hurt you in any way?" He looked at my face, looking for any bruising. Then his eyes fell on my red cheek. His lips set in a cold line.
"Who did that?" He pointed to my cheek.
"Dad, but it's fine. It doesnt hurt and I didnt cry."
"Brave." He opened his arms for a hug and I snuggled into him, glad to be with someone exactly like me. Me and Jordan had so much in common; we were both emo and loved bands. He would always come over and we would watch Star Wars and browse the internet for band merch and drink Monster.
"I'm always here Alexs. You know that dont you?" He nudged my head with his chin, so my head was tilted backwards to look at him.
"I know."
"So where are you heading off too, beautiful?" He stepped back away from the embrace.
"I dont know." I shrugged, picking a thread on the elbow of my hoodie.
"Do you want to come in? Quinn's been asking for you for ages and Mum's making chilli."
"Are you sure?"
Jordan snorted. "Alexs, you're my best friend. Of course im sure. You could barge into the house uninvited and mum would still be cool about it. Come on."
He grabbed my fingers and tugged me in the direction of his house.
"Wait!" I yelled, pulling my hand out of his. I whistled and Fang came running towards me. "Can't forget Fang."
"That cat is evil." Jordan teased, bending down to scratch Fang's ears.
"Just because my cat is a total legend and yours is so fat it can barely roll over to lick itself." I jabbed him in the ribs.
"MUM! IM BACK!" Jordan hollered as he stepped in the front door.
"Goodness sake Jordan, be quiet. You were never gone that long it the first place."
"Alexs is here."
The door to the front room flew open and Quinn came running down the corridor, tripping over his little feet. I ran towards him, holding my arms out for him to jump into.
Quinn was adorable. He had chubby red cheeks and curly chestnut hair with muddy brown eyes.
"Awex! Awex!" He squealed, peppering kisses all over my face. Jordan rolled his eyes, and put his hands under Quinn's arms. Quinn screamed, gripping my neck. For a two year old, he was incredibly strong.
"Hey there sugar." Jordan's mum poked her head round the kitchen door, smiling.
"Hello Mrs Raven." I waved, while Quinn pulled my hair, begging for my attention.
"Call me Fiona, poppet. You've known me long enough. Sorry about Quinn, he's just so happy to see you."
"I can see."
She chuckled, disappearing back into the steamy kitchen.
"For fucks sake." A loud voice said. Christofer.
Christofer was Jordan's older brother and he looked very similar to Quinn, except his hair was a richer brown and his eyes were blazing green like Jordan's. My friend Alexa says he looks like Harry Styles because she never shuts up about 1D. I dont like it much.
"Bad Christofer." Quinn huffs, making a cross face and waggling his fingers around like he was the boss.
"Shut up midget." Christofer says, bounding down the steps two at a time. "Oh. Hey Alexs."
"Hello."
"Ok, now we can go into the front room." Jordan says, pushing me gently but firmly into the lounge.
"Welcome to hell." He muttered under his breath.
