"Bye Quinn!" Jordan shut Quinn's door slowly, pushing me gently away. "Alexs, before he sees you and screams the house down." He kept nudging me forward until I was in danger of shooting headlong down the stairs.
"Will you two get a move on please?" Christofer yells up the stairs, tapping his foot impatiently.
I hopped down the stairs, watching the laces on my Converse jump around.
"Look up, you ninny. Last time you weren't looking where you were going, you nearly killed us both." Christofer snapped.
"Dont be an ass, Christofer." Jordan snarled, putting a protective arm round my waist. "Let me rephrase that; try to stop being an ass."
Christofer jumped forward towards us, his hands curled like he was going tp throttle Jordan. Which he would have done if Daniel hadn't grabbed his shoulder.
"Let it go Chris, let it go." Daniel said, grinning at Jordan. "Stop winding up Chris, kids."
Jordan edged past me, a small smile flickering at the corners of his mouth. He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the front door, ignoring the loud whistles from Daniel and Christofer. I looked back at Daniel, and he gave me a reassuring nod. "Just sit in the car Alexs, we'll be out in ten minutes. I just need to catch up with Christofer on some stuff."
I turned back around to face Jordan and giggled. He was holding open the car door and bowing, his black hair swinging softly in the breeze. I admired his hair again for a split second before realizing he was getting goosebumps from standing in the cold.
I slid along the seats and made room for Jordan beside me. The car smelt like aftershave, warm leather jackets, coffee and cigarettes. Jordan crawled in beside me, tugging on his blue ends. My eyes drifted up and down his pale arms, his still fresh cuts hidden from my sight.
"Are you alright?" I asked quietly, shuffling to sit beside him.
"Yeah." He smiled, looking away.
"No." I nudged his shoulder. "The truth, Jord."
He grimaced, his eyes locking onto mine. "Please, Alexs. I'm fine."
I slid my fingertips up his hands, along his wrists and through the wristbands. "No, your not." I whispered, stroking his cuts. Some were deeper than others. Some were only surface cuts.
"Dont hurt yourself Jordan. Please? For my sake?" I begged, tears brimming in my eyes. He choked awkwardly, brushing his hair out of his face.
"I'm really sorry Alexs, but this isnt about you." He said coldly, opening the car door and clambering out. He slammed the door behind him, the glass threatening to shatter. I watched him walk away through the back window. He didn't turn around.
