You know how every child grew up with their mothers saying 'mother knows everything' around them for every single time whenever they did something discreetly or something without her permission, and how every child had just laughed it off. The saying cannot be truer than it already was, and Dianna cannot believe it actually wasn't a bluff whenever her mother used to tell her that line when she was a kid.

It just happens that the next morning as Dianna sits down onto the dining chair with a mug of coffee and a toast, biting into her breakfast, somewhat a little lost in her thoughts about Asher and the horse riding they did a day before, Lilly breaks the silence with a question Dianna had been dreading.

"So, how's the house hunting going on?" Lilly asks, casually taking a sip of her green tea.

It takes a moment for Dianna to collect her thoughts, and when she does, she pastes a smile on her face. "Yeah, it's going well. In fact I liked a place and I'm thinking of finalizing it although I haven't found a place for the boutique but I am going to check out this place today."

"That's good." Lilly says, playing with the rim of her cup, shooting furtive glances towards her daughter.

Dianna, sensing the way her mother is staring at her, sighs and asks, "What is it?"

"You didn't go to volunteering yesterday." Lilly states, simply.

Dianna shrugs simply, trying to calm her nerves down, already knowing where this conversation is heading to. "I was held up."

"And, you came back really late last night."

"Again, I was held up." Dianna answers, trying as much possible as she can in avoiding Lilly's gaze.

"What exactly is it that got you held up from nine in the morning to ten at night?" Lilly probes further, putting up the strict mother face with a hint of a curiosity as well.

"You remembered the time I went and came back home. Seriously?"

"Yes, as a mother I have every right to remember when my child leaves and returns especially when the said child is a daughter who has just returned home after five years."

Dianna sighs, a faint chuckle escaping her lips. "Okay. Like I said, I was out hunting places for my boutique."

"The whole day? Till ten o'clock at night?"

"Yes?" Dianna replies, which sounds more like a question than an answer.

"And with who you were, like you said, hunting places for your boutique?"

"Will you believe me if I say I was looking all by myself?" Dianna gives an innocent smile, batting her eyelashes but sadly, little did she know, Lilly was smarter than she gives her credit for. Seeing the not-so amused look on Lilly's face, Dianna lets out an audible sigh, placing her half eaten toast back onto her plate, and groans. "I was with Asher." She admits.

Dianna doesn't know what she was expecting but she definitely wasn't expecting the silence that followed after her confession, but when she turns around to look at Lilly, she is surprised to see the knowing look on her face.
